A few ideas on how to make your census form genealogy friendly. 1 - List any woman's maiden name. 2 - Copy it for your files and/or send it to your family's archivist (the one that keeps track of everyone) Claudette M. My grandparents shared housing with a family in Canton in 1923. They were Mary and Ray Bennett (whose first name was really Frank). They had a little girl, June, who died in a fire in July, 1925, just after her 5th birthday. They are all buried at West Nimishillen (COB) cemetery. I have a few photos of them. Does anyone have any information about this family? I'd be real interested in the newspaper article about the fire, around July 7, 1925, when June died, or at least knowing the circumstances of the fire. Also interested in finding out about the "goat carts" that kids sat in and had their pictures taken with the goat. There is one of them with June in it. Thank you for any help you can provide. Hello everyone, I received so many replies to my query about a church address in N. Lawrence. I'm not sure that I replied to everyone, so if I didn't - thank you. It's hard to research people so far away (as I'm sure many of you know), but you have all been so friendly. I'm from Northumberland, England, and our list is just as friendly :) Thanks again. Joyce, North Shields England. (N.E.)

Hi Helen: The Werner Chapel Cemetary is located in Plain Township. It's a nice little shady cemetary; I used to ride past it on the school bus many years ago. Jane B.
Well, I haven't posted for a while, so I thought I would put out some feelers once again. For those of you who have seen my request before, please forgive me. Many thanks to all who sent me info on Jackson Twp.! I think I will easily be able to find it next week as I drive through that part of Ohio. But, you know.... I got to thinking... why on earth would the Census Bureau's Tiger Map service not show a Jackson Twp, when so many people know exactly where it is? Then I realized my silly error. I was abbreviating Township! Spelling it out brought me a map. Thanks again, Stark County folks! Kathy
I have just found out that my great-great grandfather lived in Jackson Twp, Stark County in 1850. I have looked for Jackson Twp. on my map, but don't see it. And the Census Bureau's Tiger Mapping Service doesn't seem to know where it is, either. Can anyone tell me where it was? Thanks! Kathy Funk
Can anyone tell me in what twp Werner Chapel Cemetery is located? It seems to be close to Hartville and looks like Middle Branch. The map does not show the Twp. Thanks for your help and time.
Looking for Asper family. I have a picture indicating Jonathan Asper was in Masillon, Stark Co, Oh as a young man. I believe him to be the father of Aaron and Mary Ann and 6 other children. Jonathan was born 1770 m. Elizabeth Smith and ended up in Marble Rock, Iowa. Looking for other children and more about parents. Any help, as always, appreciated. kay
Was in 3 Regiment (Bay's), Ohio Militia, War of 1812. I requested records from National Archives and received only two items, 1 company muster roll and 1 company pay roll card. Not being knowledgeable on what is available for this war, is there anything else available from the National Archives. He was in Roll of Capt. David Kasebeer's Company, roster of Ohio soldiers in war of 1812. What I am specifically looking for is place of birth. Anything available for War of 1812 that might have this information? Today being a spring-like day, we took a field trip to Waynesburg (Stark County), Ohio, SE of Canton, to visit the grave of my great-great-great-grandfather, John Patrick Creighton - born October 17, 1796 in PA; died in Carroll County, just across the line from Stark, on August 20, 1876, but buried in Waynesburg. His second wife, Polly BAKER, buried next to him, twin monuments under the shade of a tree, which we found after a brief hunt. There are a John and a James Creighton buried closer to the road, most likely sons, will have to consult my notes, John died in 1864, possibly in the Civil War. John and I were upset to see the number of stones and monuments upturned and broken, especially after reading at lunch in Canton that a number of stones and monuments have been destroyed or badly damaged in Tallmadge, where our GILLETT, HARRISON, WOLCOTT and ALLYN are buried. There is a East Greenville in Stark Co., Ohio just West of Massillon on route 30. I don't know if in 1850 East Greenville was named East Greenfield. I found no East Greenfield, but there might be one somewhere. <Grin> Sounds like your Zachariah Greenfield was from East Greenville. Howard Mark -- Mailto:hnmark@gci-net.com
