    1. [OHSTARK] Fw: Domain Name Update
    2. Sharleen Wurm
    3. To one and all in my email list: If anyone sent me email from Friday, April 14th, until today and got the message that "user unknown or prohibited by administrator" or a fatal error with my email address here is the reason why.... Please resend any email, it should be up and going now but if not you can send it to Phil's email address in Oberlin pwurm@kans.com and I will get it tomorrow evening. Thank you Sharleen Nex-Tech Experiences Domain Name Hijacking On Friday April 14th Nex-Tech was one of several ISP's throughout the country having their domain names hijacked. Our domain name ruraltel.net was one of those hijacked. The problems that it has caused are very simple but also very painful to our service. As of this morning 90% of the Internet no longer knows where ruraltel.net actually is. Most e-mail being sent to the ruraltel.net domain is now being rejected by other servers due to this hijacking. Nex-Tech staff members have been working on resolving this issue and we are now very close to a solution. Once this domain name is pointing to the Nex-Tech network it may take a few days to propagate through the Internet again. Nex-Tech Internet is very sorry for this inconvenience and we are taking measures to assure that it doesn't happen in the future. Please keep an eye on this website for further updates. 1. [OHSTARK] Database: Ohio Military Men, 1917-1918
    2. I wanted to let everyone know that Ancestry.com has the following database free for ten days: (Free Until 4/28/00) I found some of my family here tonight too.... go to http://www.ancestry.com Ohio Military Men, 1917-1918 Description: Among the bloodiest and largest armed conflicts in the modern age, World War One, although primarily a European war, involved United States military units from 1917 to 1918. This database is a massive collection of military records for men who served in the war from Ohio. Originally compiled in 1926, it provides the names for men who served in the army, navy, and marines. In addition to providing the individual's name, it reveals city of residence, unit of service, birth date or age, and other helpful facts. It also contains the location and date of enlistment and discharge information. The names of over 263,000 men are included in the collection. For researchers of Ohio ancestors who may have served in the "Great War," this can be an informative database. 1. [OHSTARK] Canton Hospital
    2. This is not exactly a genalogical question, but it does have a connection to my maternal family history. I was in Canton, Ohio for several days about a week ago. I noticed that Timken Mercy Medical Center is no longer T.M., but Mercy Medical Center. When and why was the name Timken dropped ? I didn't know of this change until driving by the hospital on I-77 . There have been a lot of changes to this hospital since it was located at 9th and Market N. where I sold the Canton Repository room to room on floors 1, 2 and 3 in the mid 1950's ! 1. [OHSTARK] Rouch School in New Berlin (North Canton)
    2. I'm also looking for information on Rouch/Rauch School where my grandpa attended in the first decade of the 1900s. It was East of McDonaldsville and West of New Berlin (North Canton) on Portage Road. Dad said we used to have a class photo which had an inset of the teacher who is said to resemble Abraham Lincoln. Does anyone have any information or photos of the school? I'd be happy to pay copying and postage charges. Thank you, Judy Uplinger Brannon West Palm Beach, Florida

    1. [OHSTARK] School at Midway (Hartville)
    2. For elementary school (about 1909-1917) my grandmother attended the school at Midway (the intersection of Smith-Kramer Road and Kent which may have been called Market Avenue back then). The intersection was called Midway. I understand the building is now a Mennonite Church. It is on Smith-Kramer, just west of Kent, and sits on the North side of the Street. Anyone out there have any information or old photos or references to Midway School? I have a couple class photos, but the school is not visible, as they were taken outside by some trees. Also interested in the male teacher who appears in both photos. Thank you, Judy Uplinger Brannon
