Of course this will be saved in the OHSTARK-L archives but a even better way would be to put it on the GenConnect Obit board for Chandler at http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/c/h/CHANDLER/obituaries Bob Strock JamesJoy97@aol.com wrote: > I'm posting the obit here and pray that someone will keep it in the library, > archives and any safekeeping for the future genealogists to look up. > > CHANDLER: Theodore, beloved husband of Mary; father of Mrs. J. Kathy Sommers was in charge of the cemetery listings and she had a list of who is buried there. You may also try calling Finefrock Gordon Funeral Home and they can give you her number and the number of Mr. Nicholson who has something to do with the cemetery. Paula
Hello Judith, Thank you for your kindness. I have already checked the transcription book for Magnolia and she is not listed. That is why I am looking for the actually burial records to see if she is there, but just does not have a head stone. Hi everyone, I've created a new surname discussion list at Rootsweb for the HECKATHORN surname. Researched variants includes the following spellings: Hackathorn Hatchethom Hecathorn Heckathorne ... and any other variant to the Heckathorn surname I've failed to list here. :) To subscribe simply open a new email and address it to: HECKATHORN-L-request@rootsweb.com Add the word 'subscribe' (without the quotes) in the body of the email and send it. Questions? You can reach me at <ladyaudris@earthlink.net>. Happy New Year's Eve everyone! :) Colleen
I have found a number of KITTINGERs buried in Union Cemetery, Lawrence Twp., Stark Co., OH. I have some in my data, but need help identifying how they relate to each other. Is anyone else working on KITTINGERs of Stark Co., OH? SE section, Row 51 Abr'm d 1837 (ae 67.11.2) Albert S (illegible) Casper d 1866 (ae 53.9.7) Sarah Ann (w/o Levi) d 1856 (ae 28.?.17) Diana ddavis@logicsouth.com Website: http://www.my-ged.com/davis/
Hello All. For those interested in the books of cemetery inscriptions, they are still available from the Stark Co. chapter of the OH Gen. Society. Each volume costs $30. The listing at this webpage in Rootsweb will give you the ordering information and tell you which townships are included in each volume. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohstark/starkogs.htm Also, just to clarify an earlier posting. While I do work at the Akron library and we have a number of genealogy materials there, I do NOT work in that department. I do my research on breaks and lunch hours and cannot undertake large, indepth research for any of you. If you need that done, there are professional researchers in the area. I will do a few lookups in between my own research (lunch hours and breaks!) as I can. You can always write or call our Local History Dept. for lookups and queries. Their number is (330) 643-9000; ask for local history. Or write Akron-Summit County Public Library at 55 S. Main St., Akron OH 44326 You may ask about three questions at a time. Be sure to provide as much background information as you can. No one has the time to do a total lookup through all materials for your family surname. Send a self-addressed stamped envelope for a reply. There may be a charge for photocopies. We do have a lot of materials on OH, including cemtery inscriptions for various counties (as they exist at all) and complete census records for all of OH. You would also do well to contact the Stark Co. District Library in Canton. They are the repository for microfilm of ALL early Stark Co. records, including wills, probate, guardianship, births. marriages, & deaths. Call the genealogy dept. at (330) 452-0665 or write to 715 Market Ave. North, Canton OH 44702-1080 You might be able to obtain a copy of the cemetery inscription book through interlibrary loan at your public library, although I know at our library it is reference and cannot be sent. Judith, I would be interested in any cemetery information about the following people: Kocks(Cox), Mathias, died 1936 in the Massillon Ohio area. Chittock, wife of Mathias, died in 1913. Starkey, Harry, married to Mary Kocks. died in Sep 1967, believe in the Massillon area. Kocks(Kox), Frederick died in the Massillon area? No certain information about burial places are available. Any information will be appreciated. Earlier in the month a Trumbull Co., OH subscriber named Beth asked me if our HECKATHORNs and HORNs were from Washington Co., PA I think I answered her privately and said they were originally from Washington Co., PA. She didn't say if she was researching these families, but if she is, would she please get in touch with me? A Heckathorn descendant contacted me after I posted on the Stark Co. OH list to say that I was only the 2nd Heckathorn researcher she's met in twenty years. She is anxious to get in touch with Heckathorn researchers and is considering starting a rootsweb list of that name. If anyone else on this list is searching Heckathorn, please contact me.
