Can anyone help me with these two name or they could been one just with a different spelling. My GGrandmother was reported be Josephine Martean but no documents on this name could then it have been Marthey. Is the orgin of the two name the same or diffferent? She and my GGrandfather Constant(in) Gro(s)jean settled in the Massillion/New Berlin/Canton area about 1832/1834. The Gro(s)jean has been change in America too many different spellings Grogean, Groshong as a few examples.

John Christopher WODTLY was married to a Margareta (assume to be in Germany or Switzerland). John & Margareta had children: Florence, Ida, Mary, Anna, Ernest, and John. All of the children except Florence and Ida were born in Massillon in the 1870's & 80's. Margareta died and John C. needed someone to take care of children and so married Mary Ann GUGGESBERG on August 07, 1888. Mary Ann signed her marriage license as Maria. She had a sister named Elizabeth who was a dressmaker in Switzerland. Mary Ann wove carpets on a loom as a hobby. She died in Akron. Has your cousin done any Woodtli research? Where might I start? Could anyone tell me if there is any record of a Christian Bachtel/Bechtel who died Feb. 18, 18128? Supposedly, he died in Stark or Wayne Counties, but I can't find a Christian with that death date.
