I do know the following...she is in Trumbull County Ohio in the 1840s and 1850s. She married an Adam Starner/Sterner, probably in the 1830s. Some time later, she migrated with her husband and children to Kosciusko County, Indiana. I find her in the 1870 and 1880 census there. She died there in 1903. I know this isn't much, but she is my end point at this time...haven't found anything to get past her. I have a biography from N.E. Ohio on her son-in-law that says she was born in Stark County.

If you can to America as a child of say 4or5 years of age and your parents did not become a citizen would have had to file for intent when you turned 21 years of age? If your parents became citizens before you turned 21 would have become a citizen by default? Was there a process for keeping up with those who did not become citizens? Did most who came to America wont to and so at point become citizens? If you do not know in which state your family became citizen is there a department in the Federal Government to write? Kelly
Was there a time limit to finalize your citizenship from the time you filed your intent form in 1840? Could you complete the process in another county or state? Also doe anyone know if one could have been an officer even in the home guard if that person was not a citizen?

Michaels's obit in 1915 indicates he had a daughter, Mrs. John Halter of Canton, who survived him. Birthdates would have been between 1865 - 1895. I have'nt had the time to research this line yet, since it's a distant one.

Thanks to all who responded regarding my post for birth/death dates/locations for the above names. I have found Jack DAUER's death cert on the OH Historical Society's site. It finally dawned on me I could do a search with just a first name. I found a Jack "O"auer who died in Stark Co., in 1932, also a stillborn son "Stillso" Dauer who died on 12\28\1921. I've sent for these records and am still looking for the rest. But this bit of forward momentum has given me hope. Thanks again to everyone who responded with links and tips for my search. I knew I could count on members of these lists for help. Good luck to everyone in their searches.
