    1. Re: [OHSTARK] Hymie Williams
    2. Mr. Farber - wonder if Hymie Williams is associated with the folks who - years ago - owned the City News Agency and The News Depot. I worked for both of these businesses as a teen in the mid-1950's. The News Depot still exists as of my last visit to downtown Canton a few years ago. The City News Agency was a distributor of magazines, paperbacks and newspapers. Any history you may have would be interesting to me. Brings back a lot of memories !! Wendell Way - Kennesaw GA resident, but a Canton Ohio native and resident for 35 years !!! Would love to be back ! ----- Original Message ----- From: William Farber <Farber1933@aol.com> To: <OHSTARK-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 24, 2001 1:10 PM Subject: [OHSTARK] Hymie Williams > Posted on: Stark Co. I know of 2 CHRONINGER brothers, born in Northumberland Co, PA, who lived with their families in Sugar Creek Twp., Stark County, at around the right time to be connected with Martha: Henry CHRONINGER (born 1788?), who married Sarah ("Sally") BOSE (b. 13 Aug. 1800, prob. in Emmitsburg, Md.) in Stark County on 20 JUNE 1816; they later lived in Tuscarawas County, but I don't know their place of death. They may have moved farther west around 1850; 2 of their sons apparently died in Henry Co, Ohio. This family is a good candidate, since one source mentions a daughter named Martha born "about 1823") Henry's brother Benjamin (born 20 April 1794), apparently married to Sarah KEENE, also lived for much of his adult life in Stark County, but died in Marion, Indiana on 6 March 1876. Oh Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Oh/Stark/12017 Surname: Ranic ------------------------- I am trying to locate information on my g.g.Uncle Lowie Ranic (And any other family). He and his wife Mary, lived in or around Canton (Most of early to mid 1900's). They owned a popular saloon...had no children of their own, but they later brought over a niece from Yugoslavia who would come to be their only heir(along with her husband). G.G. Uncle Lowie's brother, my g.g.grandfather was called Hoppy, (he used a cane), but we do not know his real name. There is a Ranic mausoulium in a Canton area cemetary, my father visited there when his g.uncle Lowie died, and Mary is also in this walk in mausoulium. The Ranic name is carved in stone on the front. If any one has heard of our family or knows how I can find more information, please let me know (I live in Buffalo, NY so I can't phyically do anything in Canton.) Thanks! Jenny

Right now I am trying to redo my Croninger data, ya know like citing sources and such that I didn't think had much importance when I started this venture way back in the late 70's. I have a Leonard Croninger b. 20 Sept. 1812 in Stark County, Ohio in Sugar Creek Township. Leonard's parents were Henry Chroninger b. 1797 in Westmoreland Co., PA d. aft. 1850 in Indiana Co., PA He married Sarah Bose [called Sally] b. 1798 in Westmoreland too. She d. abt. 1846 in Indiana Co., PA Besides Leonard two other children were found. Maggie and George. George was b. 12 Sept 1817 in Stark Co., OH d. April 1908. I am sure we will connect for the surname is not a common one. I printed off your query and if somethiing come up will notify you. I am also in process of moving to Medford or Grants Pass area in OR. Just sold our home and it is to close Apr. 15th. Boy will I have many email to send with new address-makes my head swim just thinking about it. Kathy

    1. [OHSTARK] Yoder/Dague
    2. Cathy Martin
    3. Hi, do any of those searching the YODER or DAGUE names have information about this YODER/DAGUE family? Christian YODER, born c 1814 ? PA married 12/22/1836 by Rev John Wallace to Rachel DAGUE (c 1804 ? - ). They may have lived in Salisbury, Lancaster Co, Pa. at the time of their marriage. Their second child, Andrew, was born there in 1841. By the time of the 1850 census, they lived in Chester Co., PA. The dates of birth are probably off, because those dates indicate that Rachel was about ten years older than Christian. Also, do any YODER researchers have information about the family of John YODER who was an early preacher in the Black River Brethren Church, Medina Co., OH? I think that Black River Brethren was probably founded 1855. Cathy Martin ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! 3. Hello All. I accidentally came across Suxteen & the cemetery on my way to Stanwood Cemetery last summer. It is near Dalton (Wayne Co.), it is so close to the border between Wayne & Stark/Tusc. To get there,-- I come from the north, you would take 93 S through Canal Fulton and keep going. (To get to Stanwood, you turn R on Barris Rd., L on Alabama (you are now headed S) and it is on the corner of Alabama & STanwood. The area is part of modern-day AMish country in OH. Their son, Moses, who married Rebecca Duly, was my 3g grandfather. I'd be very interested to know more about your line, and about Joseph's descendants in general. I do notice that the info. I have about his descendants includes the surname DOWNS. My Rebecca DULY, who m. Moses ELLIOTT, was originally thought to be a DOWNS, but Rebecca DULY had all the same dates and was m. to our Moses. However, the family bible records show her as a DOWNS, and they used the name of DOWNS as a middle name for their son Jeremiah, my 2g grandfather. I'll look forward to hearing from you. A. Utick
