    3. Posted on: Stark Co. Oh Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Oh/Stark/12033 Surname: Snyder, Steffy, Steffee ------------------------- My great-great-grandmother was Christina Snyder. She was married to David Steffy/Steffee, born in Pennsylvania in 1833. He died in 1883 in Marlboro township, Stark County, OH and is buried beside Christina at East Nimishillan Church of the Brethren. I believe Christina was born in PA also and I have no information on her family. Their children included Adam (my great-grandfather), Peter, Israel, Edward, Edwin, Sylvester and others whose names I don't remember right now. Some of the brothers were instrumental in building up Hartville including naming several of the streets where they built. I am wondering if your Peter is maybe Christina's brother. Any ideas? Thanks

She has to be from that line and so I'm welcoming a new cousin <G> I do have more information than I'm listing here. If you check the 1850 census for Bethlehem twp you will find the Zinsmaster/Zinsmeister homestead. I know there is a space after the main family and then ~Lucinda and baby Nic. I'd have to look up my census stuff to be sure. I belive these are the ones your looking for. I have seen different surnames for Phillipina. I'd be happy to swap you what I have on Nic for an update on Louise. I have Jacobs parents and siblings. I think this is the Nic and Lucinda you are looking for. BTW I haven't reverified the birthplaces. I *do not* want to take your family heirloom, I merely want the information *in* it. Mary Ann PRENDIVILLE (PRENDEVILLE) married Joseph QUINLAN. Their daughter Kate, married John KELLEHER. If there is a family Bible of the Prendeville's, Kate--as the only daughter of the only daughter--probably had it. Mary Ann was born in Ashland Co., but her brothers were born in Holmes Co. She was living in Stark Co. when her father, oldest brother, and mother died. I believe Kate Kelleher lived in Massilon. I'm hoping that the Bible might contain information about Mary Ann's grandparents. Link: Thomas Prendiville of Ohio URL: <http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/m/a/l/Christi-P-Malone/>

    3. St. John's Catholic Church (2nd oldest Catholic church in NE Ohio) was in the center of Canton, not New Berlin (North Canton). Canton is approximately 6 miles from the center of Massillon. I don't have "The Stark County Story" by Heald here at home, but I believe that either St Ann's or St. Barbara's in Massillon was established sometime in the 1830s. Also, St Louis Catholic Church in Louisville was established early, perhaps 1840s. Can anyone give a starting date for any of these Catholic churches ? 2. Eleanor Dobbs
    3. Paul and Martha Palmer, son William and wife Cora Elizabeth Smith Strasser and daughter Hattie lived in Sebring in 1902. Granddaughters Laura and Eleanor were born there 1906, 1914. In the Alliance Review, Sebring News I found a notice of their births on Oregon Avenue. No birth record for Laura yet. Would there be any place where Laura's birth record could be found? Eleanor's was sent in by the doctor who delivered her. Her name was written Elinore Ruth Strasser. She used Eleanor. Hattie and Clarence Gladfeter were married in 1907 in Sebring. Is there a marriage or divorce file for them? The marriage is noted in a small book in the library at Alliance where I visited in 1998. Is there a birth record for Genevieve June Strasser born June 2, 1915 in Sebring? This may be in the SebringNews section of the Review, also. She and Cora died in December 1918 in E. St. Louis IL from influenza. They are buried in the old Strasser plot in Oak Hill Cemetery, Evansville IN. Laura died 10/18/1968 Belleville IL. She and Otis R. Butler, her husband are buried in Mt. Hope, Bellevile IL. Eleanor died 11/16/1999 and is buried in Alliance City Cemetery. Her son Paul, her father William and her first husband Glenn Turner are also buried there. She married Paul E. Burson. He is buried elsewhere. Hope this is not too much to ask. I live in Illinois. Thanks.
