Elisabeth, born at Steffisburg, Berne (near Thun) on November 29th, 1861; died at Wiedlisbach, Berne on January 31st, 1950 Christian, born at Goldiwil, Berne (near Thun) on July 3rd 1863; died at Schwarzenburg, Berne on July 28th, 1931 Gottfried, born at Zimmerwald, Berne, on June 21st, 1869; died at Bremgarten, Berne, on July 22nd, 1899 Their parents were: Christian Guggisberg, the son of Daniel Guggisberg and of Elisabeth, née Rothenbühler born at Unterlangenegg, Berne on February 26th, 1832 baptized at the protestant church of Schwarzenegg, Berne on March 2nd, 1832 died at the Kaisern farm, at Zimmerwald, Berne on 29th March 1870 interred at Zimmerwald on April 2nd, 1870 he married at the protestant church of Schwarzenegg, Berne on January 12th, 1861 to Anna Blatter, a citizen of Schwendibach, the daughter of Peter Blatter her birthdate is not known, but she was baptized on June 22nd, 1827 (location not known either, possibly at Schwendibach, which is her family's origin) she died at Niederulmitz, Köniz, Berne on April 3rd 1890 I guess that should cover your needs for a while. He soon moved to Osnaburg, Stark County and lived there quietly his death in the 1920's. his life's coordinates are as follows: John (Johann) Guggisberg, son of Moritz Guggisberg and of Maria, née Hänni born at the Hubacher homestead near Oberscherli, community of Köniz, Berne, Switzerland on January 18th 1852 baptized at the protestant church at Köniz February 2nd 1852 died at Osnaburg Township, Stark Co., Ohio on March 4th 1924 married at Stark Co., Ohioon October 17th 1892 to: Susanna, née Barfuss, a native from Switzerland she was born in Switzerland ca. 1845 They likely did not have any children. Susanna was likely still alive at the time of the death of her husband in 1924. I have never been able to find out about her fate, nor where John Guggisberg was buried. Posted on: Stark Co. Oh Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Oh/Stark/12129 Surname: Guggisberg, Woodtli ------------------------- Stark County, Ohio I forgot to mention that the correct spelling is WOODTLI, (not Wodtli) and they come originally from Switzerland, precisely the Canton Aargau. There are numerous small towns in the Canton Aargau where the Woodtli surname has recorded ancestry going beyond 1798. These villages are: Oftringen, Rothrist, Strengelbach and Vordemwald. Your John Christoph Woodtli must have been originating from any one of these. To my knowledge the Mormon Church family history library system have microfilmed copies of the church records of the Canton Aargau. If you don't already know your Woodtli family background you may want to start your research in the records of the above-mentioned 4 villages. Good luck and best regards Daniel A. Guggisberg

Posted on: Stark Co. Oh Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Stark/12125 Surname: Kelly, Rhodes ------------------------- Kay, Thank you for your quick response! I've been in contact with the Stark County District Library. I haven't written for about 2 years, but I spend 2-3 years writing Miss Lauren Landis about my Rhodes/Kelly/etc. research. I ran her ragged thru the mail. She is a treaure for any genealogist doing research at the Library. I remember she checked the guardianship records for me, but didn't find anything. I feel like my g-grandmother didn't have a typical "guardianship" (?). I do appreciate your help. -- John :-)
Hi Karen: Check the Ohio Historical Society web-page http://www.ohiohistory.org They have an online searchable database of Ohio death records which include the year you are looking for. The online record usually shows the death date, death volume, and certificate number. With this information you can then request the full death certificate from them (for a nominal fee), which for 1926, will give you LOTS of information. Good luck, Lori > Would someone please look up a death record on Frederick M. Zellers for me, what I am really looking for is his parents names, the one I got from the library just listed his date of death which I already had. If it is impossible to find please let me know. Frederick M. Zellers was born June 10,1850 and I am told they did not register births back then. his marriage cert. does not mention parents. his date of death was Dec. 15th, 1926. I am willing to pay for the record. or even the obit from a local newspaper might list them.. Or any HELP that you could direct me into finding out his parents. > thank you ,,, Karen Zellers >
