Oh Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Stark/12187 Surname: Hudson, Smart, Large, Todd, Hays, Wintermute ------------------------- I have been searching in Ohio for my great-grandfather, John Hudson, born apx. 1848-1849. John married Hannah Wintermute in 1870 in Elgin County, Ontario. Family members tell me that his family is from Ohio. In my search in Ohio, I found a John Hudson family in the 1850 Stark County, Ohio census in Canton Township. Listed, with John, was his wife, Hannah, a son Jonathan (age 2), Mary Kesler (15 yrs) and Susanna Kesler (13 yrs). If anyone can help me with any information about this family, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't know who the Kesler children are or why they are living in this household. 1. [OHSTARK] Re: John Reese to Sanford Reese
    2. Eric Zurcher
    3. Hi, I'm the "cousin from Australia" that Ann Ulatt mentioned a few days ago, although I was raised in Stark County. In case you're wondering how I fit in here, I'm a descendant of John Reese's son Jacob (1803-1855). The information you give here corresponds pretty closely with what I have, but I'm curious about a few of the details. I'm especially keen to know what sources you've used for the earliest data. 1) You indicate that John Reese was born in Wales. What was the source of that information? There was a time when I thought John Reese was Welsh, but other evidence suggests that the family was German (with "Riess" and "Ries" as early spellings). For example, there is a baptismal record from St. Kreider's church in Maryland which translates as: "Johann George, son of Johann and Hanna Ries; b. 3/18/1798; bp. 7/1/1798; sponsors: Jacob and Dorothea Ries". I suspect is this is your George. (This birth date corresponds exactly with the evidence from George's tombstone [died Sept. 24, 1884, aged 86 years, 6 months, 6 days]). 2) I believe John moved to Franklin Co, PA before 1812. "John Reece", with a family makeup that seems to fit, appears in the Franklin Co. census of 1810, and there is a "John Reese" listed among the communicants of the Little Cove Stone Church in Franklin Co in 1806. 3) Do you know the name of George's wife? Her first name was definitely Nancy. Was her last name Marsh? I'm guessing that it was from a shared headstone in Freeburg Cemetery. 4) Do you have any clues regarding the maiden name of John's wife, Hanna (Johanna?)? Oh Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Oh/Stark/12180 Surname: Kaley, Yakey ------------------------- I am searching for any information on a Jefferson or John Kaley. My gg grandfather, Andrew Kaley, was born in Canal Fulton, OH in Oct. of 1855. Andrew's death and marriage records list his father as John Kaley and has a ? for his mother. Andrew's obituary says that he has a brother named William and William's marriage record lists his father as Jefferson Kaley and Louisa Sproull. However, I have found that Jefferson and Louisa were married in 1858. Andrew's obituary also states that he has a half-sister, a Mrs. Lou Yakey of Ohio. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

    3. Posted on: Stark Co. Oh Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Stark/12179 Surname: REESE, STUCKEY ------------------------- My grandfather, Sanford Curtis Reese, left Stark County, OH somewhere between 1900 and 1910 (according to census records). He moved to Huntsburg, Geauga County, OH where he bought his own farm and later married. My records indicate the direct ancestors of Sanford Curtis Reese as being: Harmon Reese (b: Sept 1854), Edward Reese, Sr. (b: Mar 1826), George Reese (b: abt. Mar 1798) and John Reese (b: 9 Jul 1757). Sanford Curtis Reese named two of his children Harmon & Henrietta (after his parents). One son is named George, also a family name. My information on John Reese indicates that he was born in Wales. He migrated to the colonies and settled in Frederick Co, MD. In 1812, John Reese moved his family to Franklin Co, PA and then moved again in 1814 to Stark County, OH. The Reese family has been there ever since. Since my grandfather moved from Stark County early on before raising a family, none of us know much about our family in Stark County. Of my grandfather Sanford Curtis Reese's 11 children, there are only 2 living. One of them being my father. Hope to share more information soon!

    3. I am in search of the FRITCH family from Stark Co. in the mid-1800's. I think they immigrated there in the 1830's from Alsace-Lorraine. There is a good chance that they lived in Massillon. Johann and Elizabeth Fritch had at least one daughter, Mary C. Fritch who married Anthony Daniel Auseon in 1859. She was born in 1839 and was baptized at St. Mary's of Morges Catholic Church in Waynesburg. If anyone is at all familiar with this family please contact me. Thanks, Julie Lund

My line is John(1); son Joseph(2)m. Lydia Lautzenhiser. She died, he m. 2nd,moved to IN. I have found quite a few cousins there.
