The Great Lakes Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists is sponsoring an Advanced Genealogy Discussion Group. The next meeting is on Saturday, November 19, 2005. The purpose of the group is to discuss advanced genealogical methodology as presented in case studies that have appeared in various scholarly genealogical publications. The group meets the third Saturday of the month, starting at 10:00 am, at one of the Akron-Summit County Public Library meeting rooms. The library is located at 60 South High St., Akron, OH. The meetings last about one and one-half hours. The discussions are free but pre-registration is required. Any experienced genealogical researcher is welcome to enroll. As a pre-requisite, participants should be familiar with Dr. William M. Litchman's article, "Teaching Analysis, Logic, and the Research Process: A Seminar Approach", from the NGS News Magazine, Nov/Dec 2000, pages 340-343. Each participant is requested to read several times, in advance of the meeting, the article to be discussed at the meeting. The article chosen for the November 19, 2005 discussion appeared in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly, June 1991. It is titled "Problematic Parents and Potential Offspring: The Example of Nathan Brown" beginning on page 85. To register, or for any questions, contact Donna Gruber at [email protected] or call (419) 846-3533.

Mike, You're right on top of things. I was at a seminar a couple weeks back and the Ohio Historical Society Librarian was there. She said they were working frantically to get it done and online by November 1st. So they made it! Thanks for bringing it to everyone's attention. I've been off ever since and totally forgot about it. Hi Pat, Glad you heard from Dee. She is who I was going to contact about corrections. Dee did a fantastic job of changing format and getting it on Rootsweb. It was a long project and hard to do because we volunteers knew of errors in the publications but had to index exactly as written in the originals. In fact, a couple members of my family are in error but I couldn't do anything about them. We are now working on Stark County Births - 1867-1908, transcribing for publication. Going to take quite awhile but will be nice to have. Anyway, don't hesitate to put a query out for information if you find someone else on the index. As Corresponding Secretary for Stark Genealogical Society, I have all of the cemetery books and can look up information. I appreciate how hard it is to research long distance. I lived in Texas for 30 years so had difficulty and had to rely on a nearby LDS facility. Now since I'm back in Ohio it seems everyone I'm working on live in another state! I live in Wayne County, OH so if you need something from Wayne, let me know. Hello List, Can someone please set me straight? I have been using this index to find the name of the cemeteries where my ancestors are buried after I've looked them up on Roots Web book index. However, I have a copy of all the pages of the Sacred Heart of Mary cemetery, and it is the one in Vol. 2 that has page 30. Hi Mike: We discovered the Ingleside Hospital while indexing the Repository. We have determined that if was located on High Street and for the first few years was managed by Alice Montgomery. From articles we have read it was an emergency room with about 50 beds perhaps more. It satisfied the growing community for about 15 years. We can find more if you are interested.
