Hi Gene, Have you tried requesting a photo through the Find a Grave site? (_www.findagrave.com_ (http://www.findagrave.com) ) Just enter your data for David Burd on the Brookfield Cemetery site and then request a photo. There are some great volunteers out there and you have an excellent chance of someone picking up your request and taking a photo. I accessed the Brookfield Cemetery site as follows. 1. From the home page under "Find Graves" (column on right) click on "Search for a cemetery." When prompted, fill in Brookfield, United States and Ohio. 2. The search provides three Brookfield Cemeteries in OH. Select the correct one. 3. Submit you data for your relative and then request a photo. Good luck, Gail O'Brien FL

Richard, I have the County & Family Histories of Ohio and the Kroft family is mentioned. John Kroft, War of 1812 was in the 3rd Reg., 2nd Brigade Ohio Militia. No mention of his family. A Catherine Kroft m. Charles Martin who was from Lancaster, Pa. Their son Charles b. 20 July 1829 in Lancaster, left home when he was ten, he was living with his widowed mother, to study the rope trade. His mother came to Stark 1831. The first store in Canton Twp. was run by Abraham Kroft in 1807, and in 1808 he had the first tan yard. There were a few other Kroft people named in the index, but no Frederick. I cannot get into the Archives through Ancestry and our library on the Island cannot get into Ancestry-Plus, so I have no way of researching these papers. Can anyone help me?? Thanks, Dolores M. The Great Lakes Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists is sponsoring an Advanced Genealogy Discussion Group. The next meeting is on Saturday, June 17, 2006. The purpose of the group is to discuss advanced genealogical methodology as presented in case studies that have appeared in various scholarly genealogical publications. The group meets the third Saturday of the month, starting at 10:00 am, at one of the Akron-Summit County Public Library meeting rooms. The library is located at 60 South High St., Akron, OH. The meetings last about one and one-half hours. The discussions are free but pre-registration is required. Any experienced genealogical researcher is welcome to enroll. As a pre-requisite, participants should be familiar with Dr. William M. Litchman's article, "Teaching Analysis, Logic, and the Research Process: A Seminar Approach", from the NGS News Magazine, Nov/Dec 2000, pages 340-343. Each participant is requested to read several times, in advance of the meeting, the article to be discussed at the meeting. The article chosen for the June 17, 2006 discussion appeared in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly, September 1996. It is titled "Resolving Conflict between Records: A Spurious Moseley Bible" beginning on page 182. To register, or for any questions, contact Donna Gruber at [email protected] or call (419) 846-3533.
Unfortunately I don't know anything about the house. I only have the reference of the southeast corner of Arch and Oxford from her estate papers. No address was given. I also have a deed indicating Mary Knox bought property in Alliance, Lot. No. 186, in February 1873. There was no mention of streets but perhaps they weren't named yet. Do you think the brown house that is there could date back that far? I'm thinking a house that old might have been torn down by now. I would like to see a picture of it if it's not too much trouble. Thank you. Kathy
Kathy ~ Was the house facing Arch Ave or Oxford? The lot on the corner is very small and a house (facing Arch St) has a store front added to it - a laundromat which is empty. The house looks like a big brown house and I could get a picture of it for you if this is possibly the one you were interested in. ~Marilyn ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carol Montrose" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, May 29, 2006 9:44 AM Subject: [OHSTARK] House in Alliance question > You might check w/ a local realtor who may have a picture if the house was > "on the market" previously. You might try the Stark County District Library. Here is the link to Genealogy Dept. which will show their mailing address and various research links. http://www.starklibrary.org/genealogyservices.html Unfortunately, if she died in Alliance or Massillon, the Stark County District Library may not have the obituary. They primarily have Canton newspaper. But the staff will assist you. I checked Stark County Probate website at http://www.probate.co.stark.oh.us/search/search.html Enter her name and then click on the Case No. which will bring up another information page. Found a listing for Ethna Fuller's administration/will. You can write to the court for a copy. Be sure to include the Case Number as well as other details. Ancestry's Ohio Deaths: Ethna Fuller - d 21 Nov 1997 Stark County. Aged 101. Born 09 Oct 1896 in Ashland Co., OH. Father surname - Fast. Mother maiden - Fox. Ethna widowed.
