The 1820 fc for Staunton Twp., Miami Co. has two households next to my John Lefever with the surname HITTON: 1) Joshua, older male and female, many young males, one young female; 2) The second: Theaphillis. It shows only one person, a female 26-45. ,) On the other side of John is Barrett, James; next Gerrard, Isaac; next Gerrard, Nathaniel, Sr. Next to the two Hittons are: Miller, Joseph; Carson, Amos; Knoop, John; Martin. Levi; Hayes, John; Steward; David John Lefever went to Salem Twp. Shelby Co., by 1825. The other surnames are early into Shelby also, except Hitton The Hitton names very rare in SW Ohio. Is it just a bad spelling by WPA workers? Did they change their name? Is it the same as HUDLON (HUDLOW)? Does anyone have a clue about Hitton?
