For those of you who may have missed this, it was in the Springfield New Sun on 2/23 and 2/24/05. http://www.legacy.com/Springfield/LegacyHome.asp?CalendarDate=&LastName=Monnin &Page=FullText MONNIN, Lloyd N. 83, of Springfield, died February 22, 2005 in Springfield. He was born in Russia, Ohio on May 18, 1921 the son of Albert and Eva H. (Didier) Monnin. Lloyd attended St. Joseph College and St. Charles Seminary then earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Dayton and his Masters degree and his Doctorate from the University of Notre Dame. He served as a teacher, a principal and a college instructor before becoming the Chairman and Associate Dean of the General Education Department at Clark State Community College. For two years, Lloyd was the director of Peace Corps Training for volunteers to Latin America. Lloyd served on the school board of Catholic Central High School, as a lector, a distributor and parish council member at St. Mary Parish and in recent years with the Parent Infant Center, the Parish News, the Catholic Social Services and the Clark County Educational Service Center. Professionally, he served on the boards of the Association for General and Liberal Studies, the Ohio Association of Two-Year Colleges and the local chapter of Phi Delta Kappa. He also was passionate about gardening, farming and building his own log home. Lloyd was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Marie A. (Kavanagh) and his brothers Robert and Frank Monnin. He is survived by six children and spouses, Mark of Asheville, North Carolina, Thomas and Cynthia Monnin of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Joseph and Deborah Monnin of Springfield, Mary and Steven Ruhe of Perrysburg, Ohio, Eileen and Kevin Kirby of Alexandria, Virginia and Michelle and Michael Meyer of Loveland, Ohio; Lloyd was also blessed to have 13 grandchildren, Kirby and Katie Monnin, Abigail, Theodore, Sebastian and Veronica Monnin, Sam, Jacob and Ethan Ruhe, Liam and Timothy Kirby, Matthias and Magdalena Meyer; two sisters, Sister Eileen Monnin of Dayton, Marjorie Hoying of Minster and brother Anthony Monnin of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Raphael Church. Entombment will be in St. Bernard Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Magdalena Meyer Medical Fund (beloved granddaughter), 1824 Vanderbilt Drive, Loveland, Ohio 45140 or Catholic Social Services.
