    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: ORTMAN, WINHOVEN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CYB.2ACE/606 Message Board Post: I would love to hear from family history researchers regarding their ORTMAN (Spelling varies) HERITAGE. I have been trying to get a fresh trail of ancestry on this name. My particular family of ORTMAN may have settled in Shelby, Auglaize or Mercer Co. Thay MAY have been parishoners of St. Augustine (Minster) or St. Joseph's or ? My Ortman family may have been friends with the Heckler family or the Koesters family? My ggrandmother was Anna Christina ORTMAN who was born in Germany 23 April 1839/1840 and met her husband here in Ohio. She married Henry WINHOVEN on 29 January 1861 in MERCER CO., OH. Please respond with any ORTMAN you know that may have been a brother or sister or cousin (same generation) of my Anna Christina. I am particularly interested in relatives that are listed on the 1860 Census in the above counties listed. Unless of course, in the possible chance that her family may have been from Cincinnati?? She was not married during that census and should have been listed with her family unless she was working as a domestic? Her "to be" husband was living with his family in Auglaize Co. in 1860. They were married a year later. ORTMAN sisters could have been Elizabeth or Anna Maria Bernardina? Brother may have been Bernard or Joseph or Gerhard or Henry? These are only guesses due to the age/locality from 1860-1880. I would appreciate any discussion regarding ORTMAN family from the "land of the cross-tipped churches"! Thank you very much. I respond to all who reply.
