    3. This is a hoax - adding !0000 does not work. I have tried this and still got virus's. Keeping your virus protection updated and not opening attachments are the most protective. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2001 11:06 PM Subject: [OHSHELBY] Virus Tip From Another Discussion List > This was forwarded to me from another genealogy discussion list. 3. My understanding is that it's purpose is not to keep you from getting a virus. For that you need an anti-virus program and you need to be careful opening attachments. Using !0000 or [email protected] etc. keeps your infected machine from sending a virus attachment to everyone in your address book. 3. It doesn't keep you from getting the virus, it makes it less likely for you to send it on and worked for me with that @bamm virus that was being sent. When I unknowingly re-booted, the virus was supposed to send itself out to everyone in my address book. It didn't, I was able to access the net and download the latest update to my virus checker, and clean my system of the virus. ----- Original Message ----- From: "KSK" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, December 05, 2001 7:43 AM Subject: Re: [OHSHELBY] Virus Tip From Another Discussion List > This is a hoax - adding !0000 does not work. > I have tried this and still got virus's.
