I have a bit of information on Shelby Co Howells b4 the time of your Ayers Howell: specifically the family in VanBuren Twp in 1850. I'm looking for parents for Reason Howell b ~1817 Ohio who married Mary Elizabeth Helmick 1846, d/o Samuel I. Helmick and Anna Minnis. Lots more is known about the Helmick family. Reason quite possibly belonged to the Van Buren Twp. Howells. It's surely a possiblity your Ayers Howell belongs to us. I simply don't have enough information to know. My immediate Howells were in LaPorte Co, Ind 1860, and Newton Co. Ind by 1870. There were several Howell families in Shelby County from 1820 Census on: James, Samuel, Jonathan, and David (both David Senior and Junior.) The Van Buren Howells were connected to the Fastnight/Fasnaught families. The David Howells were from Shelby, as were the Fasnaughts. Samuel does not seem to be connected; there are questions about Daniel and Jonathan: both were from Maryland, and Jonathan had a brother Daniel. There was also a James, not, apparently the same James as the census. He and one of the Davids were brothers, perhaps? Richard Howell, b ~1845 married Melissa Elliott remained in Shelby Co. I don't know when he died, but probably sometime after 1880. I would like to hear from anyone who either has more information, or lives near enough to Shelby Co to get it. I know Reason Howell owned land there before 1850, but I do not know the particulars. Any and all help welcomed. (Any high school students willing to dig in the court house records?) Thanks! Marilyn, I know you e-mailed this a long while back, But I took another long look at it and it keeps needling me. William and the name, Perry are used so often in the Taylors I am researching--but this Thomas Henry Taylor doesn't seem to fit. And then--we have a great great grandmother who is buried in Port Jefferson--but I don't know why. Perhaps we need to look a little further. Hi Jane and List, I did a Netscape search for Ohio Newspapers..... you can find all kinds of interesting things going to the Ohio Historical Societies web site. Try OHS Archives/Library. Denise (researching Taylors of Oran, Shelby Co.)
Does anyone know what Sidney/Hardin - Shelby County - newspapers existed in 1910? -- Particularly one that would be pro-democrat. Also, would it be on microfilm or what and where would it be located? SDN should be the "Sidney Daily News". The Amos Memorial Public Library in Sidney has Sidney newspapers on microfilm. Try the following website: http://www.downtownsidney.com/Pages/AmosLibrary.asp and there is an E-mail address for someone at the library at that site. They may be able to help you. Their address is: 230 East North Street, Sidney, Ohio 45365. Telephone (937) 492-8354. They are open on Saturdays until 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. (EDT) through May. For: JTCGEN @ earthlink.... Try this: www.sidneydailynews.com Then go down the left land side of your screen and click on Obituaries. It you don't find what you need there try the Help Desk closer to the top of the same list. I have not clicked on Help Desk so don't know if it will really help you. Other than that you'd probably have to contact the newspaper via snail mail. Perhaps there's an address on this site. Good luck, hope this helps. Doris

I have a David Dilbone that married Sarah Covault 6 Aug 1871 in Shelby Co. in 1880 the are in Union Twp Mercer Co. Ohio and have a son but says son eilba is how I read it states 8 yrs making him 1872 birth. In 1900 I didn't find them but in 1910 the appear in Vandalia Twp Fayette Co. Ill. The line I was researching was Covault so I didn't get too much into the Dilbone. The Covault's were long time Shelby Co. residents. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Ford7785@Aol.com> To: <OHSHELBY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, April 23, 2005 1:57 PM Subject: [OHSHELBY] Clyde Dibone Family > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Howell, Dilbone > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CYB.2ACE/600 > > Message Board Post: > > I am looking for information on the family of Clyde Dilbone. Actually, Ancestry.com owns Genealogy.com; they have the same principles and that is discussed when you first sign up. Subscription to Genealogy.com and Ancestry.com When I subscribe to either of the above services, I ask the representative how long do I have to cancel, if I decide to do so. They tell me the rules. I then tell them, before I give them my credit card information, that I want them to make a notation that my service will not renewed and that they have put a stop date for cancellation on the subscription. I am not interested in their subscriptions for $199. or $99. I normally get just one of the subscription, like Historic Newspapers, etc. I ask that they confirm this by e-mail which they have done. I then check back and look at my subscription to make sure that they have done this. Make sure you get the representative name and number. I think that they have a location number also. I do it this way after a friend of mine had the subscriptions renewed automatically. Roberta
I had a really big problem with Ancestry.com. I signed up for the free 14 day trial, and called the 800 number 2 days later and canceled it. I got a confirmation number and everything. Well, a few months later, I statrted getting over draft chrges from my bank. It is 30 dollors for every over draft, and 6 dollors a day for every day it is over drawn. I couldnt figure it out, and i keep very excellent records in my check book. I fianlly went to my bank and asked for a computer read-out and here, the darn thing never got cancelled, it automatically got renewed.!!!!!! By then, my bank had closed my account!!!! I called ancestry again, and you know, they never did make it right.I got the same confirmation number as they had given me before, andf they promised they would put the money back, and even told me they could see on thier records where , yes, I had indeed called and cancelled, but they couldnt figure out why it kept deductig the money from my bank acount. It was 79.?? a ! month they were taking out too!
