Back in 1972 I visited a college friend in Manhattan whose uncle taught with Florence Hetzler at Fordham. When Uncle Paul saw me, he called Florence & said I had to talk with her. Turns out her grandfather, another George Hetzler, came over from Baden Baden in the 1880's, looking for relatives in Rochester, but he went to NY instead of PA. Small world. My father had a cousin John, known as Jack. His son Jack becaome a mathematician. "Mo" Hetzler was also the name of one of my father's cousins. That branch moved to Boyneton Beach, FL. I never knew them or their offspring, because they were older than my sisters & brother and I (Dad & Mom started having children when they were both in their 30's). Good luck with your research! Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CYB.2ACE/605 Message Board Post: Hi, My grandfather Clyde Brandon Hetzler (b. 1888) was the youngest of 13 children born in Rochester, PA to George or William Hetzler (not sure which, it's been a while). "George" (b. 1832) was one of three or four brothers who came over from Baden Baden in 1848. One settled somewhere around Maryland, the others in Beaver County, PA. One of George's brothers lost an arm in the Civil War (Union side). PapPap told me one of his sister's (Minnie) was married to a farmer in Ohio, and that a number of his brothers also headed west to Ohio before he was born. PapPap, a glass mold-maker like his father, was born in the house his father earler built (1852) in Rochester. PapPap had three children...Clyde William, Norman Arthur, and Arlene. Uncle Clyde & his wife Winnie had no children. Dad had four. Aunt Arlene & her husband Sam Camens in Ohio had three. Hope this helps in your research! Betsy

    3. I have been trying to teach myself to use my "drafts" folder, however I seem to have no record there when I actually send something. Did I send the below to Mary Renner? Also, I wanted to advise that I have e-mailed Holy Angels Church and the funeral home, but have heard nothing. Did I do something wrong? My Prior Message: Thank you for your reply! So now I have a John (dob Ohio 1838) and Mary in addition to John Albert (dob in Ohio 8 Mar 1843) and Barbara! Great grandfather was born in Germany 17 Jul 1842, and must have been in Sidney some time in 1867, I calculate, because their first child was born 27 Apr 1868. I do not have a map of Ohio, so I do not know how close Sidney is to either Pomeroy, Meigs or Piqua, Miami County. It seems that John had moved from Sidney not long after 1840, and John Albert had moved some time before 1870. I do not want to overburdon you, and am ready to give up on this for a while. I am just afraid you will not be able to find out any more about the Cyphers, but it seems that this will be easier for you to research, and I would be grateful for any crumb of information. I can let you know what is on the record or if you want you can obtain a certified copy by writing to the health dept. Only certified copies are available from the health dept. and the cost is $15 each. 2. Sandra Franz Phillips
    3. Greetings! I wanted to reply to your intriquing e-mail. I tried to do a little checking. First of all, Ken taxieman Baker (whom you may know) had advised once that the George Linder who married Mary Cyphers had had another marriage, presumably earlier. So I plugged Margaret Holtz into my tree temporarily as a second wife to my George, and created a Mary Linder as the daughter, marrying her to a George Wagner, etc. I estimated dates of birth, and tried to check this out with the One World Tree, and census data on line. I could not make any of this "work", and have again deleted it. I'd be glad to do the same thing again, but need dates of birth. There is one thing you need to keep in mind, however: The Mary Linder in my information is actually Mary Cyphers Linder, and is married to a George Linder. Sincerely, Smudf@aol.com wrote: Hello list, My name is Maria Mastin and I was interested to read the postings on Monday about the Linder/Wagner family. I am a descendant of Anna Margaret Wagner who was a daughter of Anthony Joseph Wagner and Barbara Manger (my 3rd great grandparents). One of Anthony's brothers was named Peter Wagner. Another brother was George Wagner who married Mary Linder. I have Mary's parents as George Linder and Margaret Holtz. It seems likely to me that we have a connection. Anthony, George and Peter were all sons of Mathias Wagner and Marie Elizabeth Romons. I believe that the Wagner, Linder and Romons families were all prominent in Sidney and many are buried in Graceland Cemetery. Linder, Mary - female, white, widow Residence 316 E. The obituary of Barbara indicates her husband was John Holder and her two sons were John and George Holder of Sidney. Mary Linder is also mentioned as a sister but there are no other relatives mentioned. The obituary of Mary Linder indicates she was the widow of George Linder. It indicates Mary came to this country when she was 8 years old and that she was the last of a family of three girls raised by Peter Wagner. Both of these obituaries indicate funeral services were held at Holy Angeles Catholic Church in Sidney. Peter Wagner was a prominent member of this church. 3. Kudos to Mary Renner. She is a genealogist's friend. When I had a brick wall 2 years ago, she answered my query and offered a lookup, found my ggrandfather Absolem MILLER's connection to his mother. and got me off to a running start. A few other g- friends added their input and I ended up with Hannah RINEHEART MILLER ETHERINGTON's grandfather in the Rev. War ! I have noted Mary has helped other's as well. Thanks also to ROOTSWEB for bringing us all together. Isn't this a great hobby? Dot Miller

    3. Thank you for your reply! I do have a bit of info for you from Ken "taxieman" Baker (who may be known to you, also). His e-mail stated 2 Jul 2004 that "Barbara was born in baveria, Germany 1/13/1847, and died 3/27/1927 and is buried with her husband John B. Holder in Graceland, Sidney, Ohio...Mary was born in Bavaria, Germany 1/13/1848 and died 3/27/1927. She married George Linder (his second marriage), They lived in Clinton Twp, Shelby county, Ohio...George was moved from Calvery cemetry to Graceland cemetry." Regarding your question about how I had your name, I had saved the message below: Mary/Jim Renner <jrenner1@woh.rr.com> wrote: I work one block from the Shelby County, Ohio, Health Department and one block from the Shelby County Courthouse. I can do limited look-ups (free) as my time permits. I go over on my lunch hour alot. If you will give me the name, approximate birth/death date or at least a range of years, I can at least check to let you know if there is a record. I can let you know what is on the record or if you want you can obtain a certified copy by writing to the health dept. Only certified copies are available from the health dept. and the cost is $15 each. For older birth records, I can check the records at the courthouse which is more time consuming but I am willing to do what I can as my time permits.
