Shroyer, 89 September 14, 2001 Sherman N. Shroyer, of Kettlersville, a 1979 retiree of Miami Industries of Piqua, died at 1:32 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, at Fairhaven Shelby County Home in Sidney. He was 88. He was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Kettlersville. He was born Sept. 1, 1913, near Quincy, a son of Oscar and Olive (Kaiser) Shroyer. On Jan. 15, 1936, he married Irma Topp, who died on Dec. 7, 1993. He is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Bill) Opperman of Colon, Mich. and Carolyn (John) Shumate of Kettlersville; two sisters, Dorothy “Dottie” Teeters of Fort Loramie and Helen (Paul) Pulfer of Maplewood; a sister-in-law, Margaret Shroyer of Botkins; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Shroyer; a son, James Shroyer; a sister, Viola Evans; and four brothers, Earl, Wilbur, Harold and Arthur Shroyer. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Kettlersville, with the Rev. James Melter officiating. Mary Gallagher's 2 known siblings: Bridget Gallagher (Higgins)(Scanlon) and Patrick Gallagher. Bridget Gallagher Higgins Scanlon's children include Bridget (Fahey), Anne (Feighan), Kate and Michael. Patrick Gallagher has a Tennessee connection; his daughter was Nellie Gallagher (Fanciola). Bridget died in Ohio - February 1917 - "at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Peter J. McDermott, 1433 W. 110th st.[Cleveland, OH] Funeral from St. Rose's Church, Detroit and W. 116th st., Monday, Feb. 12, 8:30 a. m." William and Mary emigrated to Ohio - before 1852 - and are found on the 1870 Census, Turtle Creek, Shelby County, Ohio); William and Mary [Gallagher] Hunter's children: John (b. abt 1842, in Ireland) Martin (b. abt 1844, in Ireland); Catherine (Kate, 1843-1899, born in Ireland); James (not on 1870 census) William (b. about 1852 in Ohio) Francis (Frank, b. about 1854,OH) Mary J. Hawkins. Samuel was born near Siney, Shelby Co., Ohio in 1859. I believe his parents were T.E. Hawkins and Catherine (don't know her maiden name). Samuel married Elanor Lena Hawkins, of Cherokee descent, in 1883. Any information anyone has on this family would be greatly appreciated
