    3. I have posted the 1911 SHIELDS FAMILY REUNION picture which includes Patrick, s/o Isaac, to: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~grannyapple/SHIELDS/SHIELDSgallerie sHOME.html Perhaps others may be able to identify others in this family. The SHIELDS Family Reunion is said to have been one of the largest family gatherings at one time in Ohio. This reunion probably took place in Abbottsville or Greenville, Darke Co., OH. Family members are known to have lived in Darke, Preble, and Montgomery Cos., OH. This family is descended from Daniel and Mary (???) SHIELDS, immigrant ancestors from Ireland ca 1790. My grandparents and parents lived in Miami Co., OH for parts of their lives. I would suspect by now that other family members are found in Shelby Co., OH. Audrey (Lehmann-Shields) Hancock

    3. Just thought I would let those that are interested know..... I have just completed the rosters for both the One Years' and Three Years' Service of the 60th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The roster is personalized in that next to each soldier's name is a column for links to grave sites, bios, photos, websites, etc. Also, our site contains photos, biographies, memoirs (letters, National Tribune articles, diaries, etc.) and other fascinating facts about the 60th OVI. Our site is not a "traditional" civil war site. Our goal was to also look at the 60th Ohio from more of a personal and genealogical perspective, as there are many sites that address specific battles, etc. Feel free to check it out and sign our guestbook. Please let us know if you are related to one of the soldiers. We would love to hear from you. Thanks, Jenny Volker Volker Haus Genealogy http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~volker 60th Ohio Volunteer Infantry http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~volker/60thOhio.html

    3. Mr. Line: Thank you for the information about a book on Baltzel. Regarding your surname, One branch of Lefevres, relatives of SW Ohio Lefevers intermarried with a number of Line families in Pennsylvania. I have not been able to connect those PA Line with the many Line that showed up in Salem Twp., Shelby Co., where two Lefevre clans settled. One children of Jacob and the other John Lefever and his 8 offspring. Morris LeFever

    1. [OHSHELBY] BALTZELL
    2. Morris LeFever
    3. JILL: I am very much interested in surname Baltzell (Baltzel). A Jacob Lefever was raised by his uncle Major Baltzell in western Maryland. About 1807 Jacob (who married Mary Pope Jackson in MD) pioneered in Warren Co., Ohio adjacent to Shelby Co. My ancestor John Lefever pioneered into Salem Twp., Shelby Co. by 1824. He was the 1st Lefever there and in the 1830's 3 or 4 of Jacob's children settled one mile away from John. There were many Baltzell in Philadelphia around 1775, and Lefevers there and other PA areas, but then both appeared in Maryland. I think they went to MD to protest taxes for the Revolution and for religious purposes. Many of the next Lefever generation in MD went by 1810 to Miami, Montgomery and Warren Counties. I do not know what other connections there are between Baltzells and Lefevers and especially my John Lefever to other Lefevers. I know there was an early marriage of a Baltzel in Shelby Co. Any information would be appreciated. M. LeFever

    1. Re: [OHSHELBY] Re: Bulle, Denman, Littler Families
    2. Jaye, You might try getting hold of a book entitled "Denman - Frisinger and Allied Families (Early Ohio Pioneers)" by Betty Pond Snyder. It was published by Gateway Press in 1987. I was able to get hold of this book through interlibrary loan. Allen Co. Public Library in Ft. Wayne, IN also has a copy. Several other libraries in Ohio have the book. It was very helpful to me in detailing how my BALTZELL line fit into the DENMAN line. Jill

Her children by Denman were Abner, Martha and Terry. In Shelby Co., Ohio 1880 History is listings for Abner Denman who was a Minister of the early Baptist Church. There is very little else but that information in that source, but it does give us the information that by 1880 he ws no longer living and by 1840 when the church divided and he was a minister of the second church, he lived in Shelby Co. If you are related or have information on that family or my family, please contact me. I am at a dead end with this family also. Jaye

    3. Deshler is a town in Henry County OH. It is just over the line from Putnam County. If you look up Ohio Route 65 it is straight up 65. Several of my relatives moved from Jackson Center to Deshler in the late 1880's. Hope this helps!
