    1. [OHSHELBY] OLDEN family
    2. Thank you Don. Yes, I have Elizabeth on the 1870 census. Her husband, John, is listed below her name which I thought was unusual, until I finally found him on the 1880 census in Champaign Co. Adams, Twp. living with his sister, Sarah and her husband, William Green. He is listed as a widower and a disability called "Paralysis". I am figuring that he must have been wounded in the Civil War?! Anyway, I can never find ANY death records for my OLDEN's! John and Sarah are the sister and brother of my gr-grandfather Samuel OLDEN who is listed in the 1870 census also. His wife Mary HUGHEL OLDEN disappears off the census after 1870 also but no death notice?! Thank you for your help! Kathy Olden Berman

Their daughter, Jane Yinger, was born in Hampshire Co., WV, c. 1819. I believe she had a brother, John, who served in an Illinois Infantry Regt. during the Civil War. The family moved to Peoria Co., ILL, although I believe they had a connection with Shelby Co. Jane married George Coon and had the following children:- Walter, Emma, Winifred, Bathena and Hattie. Any information you could supply on their ancestry would be appreciated.

    2. Tina Hursh
    3. Found it! According to "The History of Shelby County".....Washington Township was originally named Grayson by Col. Jesse Wilson, in honor of the county in VA where he was born. The name was changed to Washington a short time later. I don't have the actual book, just abstracted info so I don't know which twps McLean came from. 3. Laurie - Perhaps you have information that will confirm that I am "in the family". I'm a descendant of Jacob Diegel, who first settled in Lorain County, then moved to Auglaize County about 1860. Jacob's brother George had settled in Washington Township near New Knoxville much earlier (before 1840, I think). I have quite a lot of information about their families. I have seen compilations that show Catherine Diegel, the wife of Mathias Accuntius, was a sister of Jacob and George. The ages are about right - Jacob was born in 1798, Catherine about 1803, and George in 1811. All of them settled in Auglaize County. However, I have no information (other than compilations that I have been unable to verify) that would confirm that they were siblings. Any ideas? 3. Terry, These are the only two bride's by the name of Elizabeth in the marriage records; neither is in the '20s though. SPEECE, Henry married CONROY, Elizabeth on 14 Apr 1833 (both residents of Green Township); married by Joseph Park, MG Books 1 & 2, p 85. SPEER, David married OLDEN, Elizabeth on 26 Dec 1865 by Elder John Goings Book 4, p 325. Good luck :) Lynne K.
