She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Versailles Senior Citizens, and Eagles Ladies Auxiliary of Versailles. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with the Rev. David Vincent officiating. Burial will be in St. Remy Church Cemetery in Russia. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. The SS Death Index lists a Gilbert/Stephan/Stephen BUT this is not the one I am looking for. I have talked with one of Gilberts sons and this family is caucasian. Ironic is his father was WW2 vet, in the Army, in Belgium but was in a different division. I am searching for Gilbert Stephan/Stephen, afro-american, born approx. 1923, Ohio and served in the Army in Belgium in the 58th Quartermaster Division and greatly assisted the family of William GILLET in the town near "Belgium on Bressoux (near Liege) the barracks General Leman. Hello, Since I do not know how far you have gone back, Let me give you a few suggestions. I have a copy of the 1870 census index of Shelby Co. The Guy family are located in Clinton Township. Also a William VanFlossen. (page 436) Also the Jones families. You should check those census and may very well find what your looking for. If you want names and page numbers for Jones and Guy, let me know. As noted the VanFlosen is on page 436. A lot of Jones live near them. Also a Guy on same page. Four other Guys in same township.
