This past week I had two different document discoveries. Both solved the mystery of the origins of my John in Shelby Co. and his neighbors, descendants of Jacob Lefever and his wife, Mary Pope Jackson of Warren Co. 1830's to 1850's Documents are about Lefever, Jackson and Duvall whom both Lefever clans married into.
Are you by any chance related to the Butterfield family in Lucas Co., OH, specifically Sylvania? I have copies of some very interesting letters from WW II that you might be interested in. I don't know why I have them; that is, were they in my mother's or father's things? I haven't been able to figure out any connection between these families and the Butterfields. It is the last book on the microfilm, but if you have a Family History Center near you it is well worth going through. I copied down the information on everyone with the surnames I wanted, typed up my notes and have found myself referring to them over and over. When I had a new question, often I already had the answer in the notes.

Mary Ann's obit reads: Mary A SAVAGE was born in Ft Wayne, Indiana, Jan 21, 1817, moved with her parents to Shelby co OH when but four months old. There she grew to womanhood and united in marriage with John J SAVAGE in 1836. Moved to DeKalb co (MO) about 51 years ago and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret P. Cole in Altamont, MO, July 24, 1906, aged 89 years, 5 months, and 5 days." In the 1880 census of DeKalb co MO, Mary Ann is listed as born in IN, father born in Ireland, mother b in "Main." Have good information on SAVAGE line. Wish to establish Mary Ann's parents and family. They seem to have left Shelby co OH before the 1840 census.

MARILYN: Very rare given name. I have not seen it before. People then used nicknames, so could be. Name spelling at that time was terrible so difference is not unusual at all. I very much suspect one and the same lady. At some point you may have to decide that this is the same person and that her husband died..also that she was a Davis. Toy could check the 1860 census and see if her husband is still alive. Then check the 1870 census and if she is still alive and her first husband not shown, look at ages and names of second husband surname. There should be an estate settlement in county records. If they moved, it will be tough.
