    1. Re: [OHSHELBY] Polo, OH
    2. Hi Bruce: I certainly know where Polo is. My grandparents were married there and my great grandparents had a store there. It is located on State Route 48 North of Covington, Ohio about a mile south of the Miami Shelby County Line. It consists of an old closed store and two or three buildings. My grandparents name was Harmony and Stein. Kennie

    3. Polo is in Newberry Twp, Miami County, Ohio, at the intersection of State Route 48 and Versailles Road. I think there is one building at that intersection now. At one time I lived about a mile from there. 3. Hi Bruce, According to my map, Polo is a wide-spot-in-the-road on Hiway 48 between Apple Ditch & Rudy Ditch and is SE of Versailles, NE of Bradford, N of Covington and W of Piqua. Don't blink or you'll miss it, I gather. Surnames: Johnston, Stephenson, Bluebaker, McCoy Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CYB.2ACE/434 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on my gg-grandfather, Charles Jackson Johnston who was born in Shelby Co. Ohio in 1830. He was the son of Charles Johnston and Nancy McCoy who first settled in Champaign Co. Ohio and then later in Shelby Co. Charles Jackson Johnston married first Martha Stephenson and had a daughter by that marriage named Sarah Louise Johnston. Sarah stayed in Ohio with her grandparents when her father left the state. Charles Jackson Johnston married second unknown Bluebaker. We have been told Miss Bluebaker was a cousin of Martha Stephenson's. Charles and Miss Bluebaker had two sons, Silas Samuel Byron Johnston and Harvey Johnston. Both boys went to Missouri with Charles J. Johnston when he moved on. He married 3rd Mary Freeman in either Missouri or Nebraska. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. There are several of us researching different parts of the family line. Thanks much~ Kim!

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CYB.2ACE/430.1.1 Message Board Post: Rocky, Thank you so much for this information! I have been leaving messages all over the Web in an attempt to track down details about these people! When my Dad died 5 years ago, I promised I'd keep on looking and thanks to you his dream of finding out something about his father's family has come true, at least for me! All he ever had were the facts I posted in my original message. Every bit of information you posted is new to us, and if you have more (e.g. James M. Hussey's parents, Mary's mother's name, whether they were related to the New England Quaker Husseys, etc.) I would be thrilled to have it! Allen Hussey apparently considered himself a "prodigal son" and kept details of his family of origin a secret, aside from a few names. A year ago I found a marriage record (1870, Shelby County) on the Web for a James M. Hussey and Mary M. Stephenson, but I had no way of verifying if they were really my great-grandparents. The juxtaposition of the two names and the location int! rigued me, however, and lo and behold it appears I was on to something! If you'd rather correspond via email, you can write to me directly at [email protected], or if you think this information would be valuable to others, please post here. I am eternally grateful for what you have provided so far! And my Dad would be, too.
