In the meantime, does anyone have any information as to Margaret Watchier (Watcher) who married a John S. Harrison. They were married in August 1863 and had 3 children, Austin, Minnie and Edward. In the Seneca History online, there is a J.S. Harrison who joined the Union Army, 8th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. I don't know if this is my ancestor or not, as on the day he was mustered out, another John S. Harrison enlisted in Tiffin. I have no information as to John Harrison; no date of birth, place of birth, parents' names, siblings, etc. As family rumor has it, he supposedly abandoned the family, exactly when is not known, and his further whereabouts are unknown. Margaret died in 1885 in Tiffin from burns she received when an oil lamp toppled and caught her skirt on fire. She had funeral services from St. Joseph German Catholic Church. I don't know if this is the same St. Joseph Catholic Church that you have in Tiffin today and I don't know where she is buried. I have some knowledge of Austin and Minnie Harrison; however, Edward Harrison seems to have disappeared. Jane S. >> Hi Jane, Here are some references which appear to relate to your WATCHIER/HARRISON families: 1. History of Seneca County, Ohio, 1886, by Warner, Beers & Co. Page 633. "Margaret WATCHIER was born in Lutzenberg, Germany, December 23, 1843, and when but three years old came to America with her parents, four brothers and four sisters, and settled near Fort Seneca in Pleasant Township. In 1863 she was united in marriage with John S. HARRISON, moved to Tiffin, and was burned to death in that city April 30, 1885." 2.
