Can anyone add anything to this, this mans family is driving me nuts. I think i have other children but.... >> Hi Robin, >From a search through our Seneca County, Ohio publications, I found the cemetery inscription for a Harriet M. SWANDER nee MORSE, born 1832, "d/o "E.& H. (SWANDER)". The maiden name of MORSE is a bit puzzling. Assuming, E & H stands for Edward and Hannah, perhaps Harriet is a child of Hannah's from a previous marriage to a man named MORSE? The early birth year of Harriet's (1832) would fit. Our Marriage Book for Seneca County covers the years 1841-1899, so I would not expect to find the LANG-MORSE marriage there, if one exists. On another somewhat interesting note, I found that Hannah LANG was the youngest sister of the author (W.Lang) of our reference book: History of Seneca County, Ohio, 1880. Details: 1. Under the heading of The SWANDER Family: This mentions that the father of Edward SWANDER was John SCHWANDER who married an Elizabeth GLICK in 1800, and settled in Lehigh County, PA. John and Elizabeth had 13 children, including Edward, the youngest, Edward married in Lehigh County, PA, and moved to Clinton Township in 1840 where he settled on the Northwest quarter of section 27. After living there about a year, he lost his wife, and in 1844 he married Hannah (LANG), the youngest sister of the writer (W. Lang, author of the History of Seneca County, Ohio, 1880). Edward and Hannah had eight children, six of whom are still living (as of 1880). Hannah died Dec. 4, 1865. About one year after Edward moved to Clinton, Seneca County, OH, his father, John SCHWANDER, sold his home in Lehigh County, PA and came to Seneca County, OH where he settled near Tiffin. John lived here until his death on 17 Jun. 1859. His wife also died there on 7 Feb. 1861. 3. History of Seneca County, Ohio, by Warner, Beers & Co., 1886. Page 467. Edward SCHWANDER settled in Clinton Township in 1840. John SCHWANDER settled in Clinton Township in 1841. He died June 15, 1859, aged 83 years. Regards, Ken Shute, in MD ([email protected]).
