    1. Re: Longley or Longly Station
    2. As a part of the discussion regarding the Hocking Valley railroad, I would like to add that my great grandfather, William Herbert Cummings, was the telegrapher and ticket agent at the Fostoria station for fifty years. He died in August 1930, and had been presented with a diamond pin for his period of service the year before. He first served at Webb, near Toledo, then Walbridge and Alvada before transferring to Fostoria in 1891. His obituary states, "Mr. Cummings spent the major portion of his service as a telegrapher reading by sound than by the recording tape method". It should be added that he was almost lynched one time due to a train accident near Bradner. Known as "Colonel" he was also a school teacher! Roger Cole Lynchburg, VA
