Vernon Baptist Association" OBITUARY REPORT 1880 Brin Zion mourns the loss of two of their number. SISTER LURISSA HULL died January 19,1880, after a short illness. She was a faithful wife, a devoted mother and an orderly Christian. BANNER REYNOLDS, aged 50 years, passed away May 30, 1880. By his faithfulness as a Christian he had the confidence of the Church, and his integrity in business matters commanded the respect of the community. Mt. Gilead has seen two of their number pass away. LAWRENCE KIDWELL, a faithful and worthy member, died, after much suffering, with a full assurance of a better life beyond the grave. J.F. STONE, an aged and consistant Christian, died Sept 29th, 1880. The Church and community feel that a good man is gone. 1881 Mt. Gilead reports the death of three. SISTER HAND, an aged christian and rich in christian experience, and BRO. GEORGE POWELL, in middle life and in the midst of much christian usefulness. DEA. JOHN SHAW, an aged seventy-eight years, was stricken down with out a moment's warning and called to the upper sanctuary. Bro. Shaw united with the Baptist Church of Mt. Gilead over twenty years ago, and served the church as deacon about eighteen years. He was senior deacon at the time of his demise. 1893 Mt. Gilead reports four; ELIZABETH DONALDSON, baptised over forty years ago, died Nov. 29, 1892, aged 79 years; ELIZABETH THOMAS died Sept 15, 1892, aged 91 years, a devoted Christian; ROSETTA PACE died Dec. 30, 1892, was a great sufferer for two years, but enjoyed much favor with God; EDITH EARLY died July 11, 1893, aged 48 years, gone to be with her Savior. Hopewell reports one; PHOEBE A. WILLIS died Aug. 25, 1892, aged 59 years, a constituent member of the church. 1889 Hopewell -- BRO. DAVID BRICKER has preceded us to the celestial city. Mt. Gilead -- Since our last letter three worthy members have crossed over. DEACON BENJAMIN BUSBY, SISTERS MARY A. STOCK and L. A. MICKEY. *********** END REDIRECTED MESSAGE ***********
