    3. Hello, I am new to the list. I have been researching my husband's lines, have hit a wall, and am hoping there might be a clue in Fostoria, Ohio. My dh's great grandfather, Jeremiah Timothy SULLIVAN, was born in 1865 and raised in NYC. In 1887 he appeared in Kingston, Iowa, and married Cora DEARLOVE. The couple moved back to NYC between 1890 and approximately 1896. In 1897, they had a daughter, Cora SULLIVAN (b. Sept. 22, 1897), in Fostoria, Ohio. By 1900 they were back in Kingston, Iowa. We have been unable to find Cora SULLIVAN's birth certificate. We have also been unable to find Jeremiah SULLIVAN's father in NYC. None of the family knows why Jerry and Cora would have been in Fostoria. During the year(s) they would have been there, they would have been a young family with the following children: Ellen Mable, b. 1887, Frank, b. 1890, George, b. 1892, Agnes, b. 1896, and then Cora, born 1897 in Fostoria. When they returned to Iowa, Jerry went to work in an iron factory. I live in Oregon and can't get to Ohio. The time when the SULLIVAN's would have been in Fostoria falls between census years. I was hoping someone might know the answer to any of the following: Was there an iron mill or anything similar in Fostoria, Ohio? My guess is that the family would not have moved there just on a whim. They may have gone to be near relatives. Has anyone heard of the following surnames in Fostoria in the 1890's?: SULLIVAN, DEARLOVE, BARNES, MOEL, O'NEILL, SHEA, or CLARK? Was there anything like a city directory in Fostoria in 1897? Was there a Catholic church in Fostoria in 1897? Would anyone have any idea why people from New York City would move to Fostoria, Ohio, en route to Iowa? We are hoping that if we can figure Jeremiah SULLIVAN out, we may be able to find his father, James SULLIVAN, or his uncle (?) Daniel SULLIVAN. Many thanks for any ideas or suggestions! Holly Sullivan in Oregon
