I know there are some researchers with this group that are interested in the KIRIAN surname. My wife is a direct descendant of Ernest KIRIAN who married Elisabeth SCHOCKMAN. A few years ago, I listed an inquiry on ancestry.com concerning the KIRIAN-SCHOCKMAN connection. Tonite, I received a phone call from a lady in Oklahoma who has been trying to track me down. She has information on the SCHOCKMAN and KIRIAN families from Hoetmar, Germany. This is in area we were searching (based on telephone directory of Germany and previous information about SCHOCKMAN family) marked by square made up of Telgte, Sendenhorst, Ennigerloh and Warendorf. This is southeast of Muenster. My contact is mailing me information from Oklahoma which will verify the connection. I will be happy to share any information with any of you interested in the KIRIAN surname. With this information, my wife and I will now have identified every ancestral village in Europe of all our great great grandparents - 32 in all. Based on my experience, I would share these tips with the group: -If you are having trouble locating an ancestor, try searching back through their spouse. -Important to be patient.
