PEABODY: apart from a reference to his marriage to Victoria (Dora) SNYDER on 1 Jan 1877 in our Marriages of Seneca County, Ohio by Seigley, I could find no further references to him in any of our other Seneca County, Ohio publications. In the Remarks section of this marriage entry it states: "Please don't publish." The Marriage Book indicates that the phrase "do not publish" was added to some marriage licenses so that the newspaper of the period would not publish it. Reasons given were that some couples wanted to surprise their family and friends; others may have been married before and did not want this publicized; and others may not have been sure they were going ahead with the marriage. Have you looked into Lorain County, Ohio as a possible ancestral home for Albert T.? There seems to have been a number of PEABODYs living there according to our Index to the Census of 1870 for Lorain County, Ohio---sixteen PEABODYs in all (but no Albert T. at that time). Unforunately, this is the only publication for Lorain County that we hold. Also, the search engine for PEABODY on the Lorain County, OH home page (www.centurytel.net/lorgen/) yields 18 links with references to the surname PEABODY, with each link often showing three or four different PEABODYs. These links include some which give cemetery inscriptions, queries concerning the PEABODY name, and first families of Lorain County.. One link, an Index to the Lorain County Cemetery, showed PEABODY inscriptions on 17 different pages. I made a quick pass through these links without finding Albert T., but it might be worth a more exhaustive search. Following are some references to Victoria (Dora) SNYDER which you may or may not already have: In our 1870 Census Index for Seneca County, Ohio (Tiffin Ward 1) we see Victoria and her family on Census Page 348, household # 570: Simon, head of household Rebecca Hiram Lewis Howard Victoria Rodney Christopher Emma Frank. In the Ohio 1910 Census Index (from Ancestry.com) Dora PEABODY, age 55, is listed for Tiffin, Seneca County as the head of household with sister Emma E. SNYDER, age 43, and son Charles PEABODY, age 31, as other residents. In the Ohio Death Certificate Index, Dora PEABODY is listed for Seneca County, Ohio, with date of death as 8/26/1930 (Vol. # 6386, Certificate # 50624). Finally, in the Ohio 1910 Census Index (from Ancestry.com), Harry PEABODY, age 28, is listed as head of household in Tiffin, Seneca County, with other residents of wife Maude, age 28; daughter Geneva, age 03; and daughter Gertrude, NR.
