My great-grrandfather, Daniel C. Foster, was born in Stark Co., Ohio, June 25, 1840. He enlisted at Attica, Ohio, May 11th, 1864, as a Private in Co. 'C' 164th O.V.I. and was honorably discharged at Cleveland, OH, August 27th, 1864. He re-inlisted at Attica, OH, Sept 28th, 1864, as a private in Co. 'F' 62nd O.V.I. and was honorable discharged at Richmond, VA, June 20, 1865. By 1869 he had moved to Fulton Co., OH. He was a shoemaker. His wife was Henrietta Shrieves. On January 26, 1871, a Franklin K. Foster, Attica, Seneca Co., Ohio, wrote "Uncle Daniel Foster, I take my pen in hand to drop you a few lines to let you know that your brother John was buried yesterday...grandmother is here staying with us now. Sarah is going to stay here until Spring and then I guess she will go out in the country somewhere. I don't know whether you knew that I was staying to home this winter and going to school...grandmother was only to home a little over one week before he died. I wen! t ! out after a week ago yesterday and John died the next Tuesday...Mr Royer preached his sermon...Lydia has not come out here yet and John wanted to see her awful bad..." So far, I have no information on any of Daniel's siblings/parents except this letter. Does anyone recognize any of these people or have any more information that might be of help to me? Thanks.
