One of my husband's ancestors is listed as a weaver in census records, so I once mentioned to a dealer in antique textiles that it would be nice if we could find a piece with his name woven into it. She told me that the name woven into a coverlet was most likely the name of the person for whom the coverlet was made NOT the name of the person who did the weaving. I never delved into this further to find out if what this dealer told me is a fact, but it's something to think about. Hello Sue, On the 1850 census, there is a John Heater family living in Scipio Township which could be the right family. His wife's name is Elizabeth, and the children, ranging in age from 17 years to 2 months are Isaac, Sarah, John, David, Jacob, William, Perry, Lovina and Elizabeth. Sarah was 15 in 1850. Perhaps she or her mother made the coverlet. It's possible that one of them may have gone by a middle name which began with J. I have never been able to find any information on this person or the whereabouts of his property, life, family etc. It would just be interesting to find out more. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0YB.2ACI/146 Message Board Post: I'm happy to announce the Ohio Family Group Sheet (FGS) project. It's my privilege to be managing it, and I hope to be very busy adding family group sheets submitted by all of you. The URL for the page is http://www.rootsweb.com/~usfgs/ohio/. I think you'll find the page easy to read and use, but if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. The USFGS home page (http://www.rootsweb.com/~usfgs/) links to all the states that have a family group project. I hope you'll take advantage of this new project. Those of us who have been working to bring it to Ohio are very excited about its possibilities. Any family group that lived in Ohio, even for a short time, can be posted. THE ONLY OHIOANS WHO CANNOT BE POSTED ARE THOSE WHO ARE LIVING. Each family group sheet provides space for basic information about father, mother, and children; so if you only know about one family unit, you know enough to put the information up. If you know more, you can add more family group sheets: the father's parents and siblings, the mother's parents and siblings, the children's spouses and children, and on and on. If you've traced the family on into Kansas, Colorado, and Oregon, you can post your group sheet in those states as well as Ohio. But just one family sheet in one state can be enough to make new and exciting connections. We've prepared the pages and forms, added search engines and links, and now it's in your hands. Send in your family group sheets. One a day, one a week, whatever works for you. Tell your fellow researchers about the site. Talk about it at your next genealogical society meeting. Mention it in your emails. The more people hear about the site, the more contributions we're likely to get; and the more contributions we receive, the more valuable the project is going to be. I'll be waiting for your family to turn up in my mailbox! *********** END REDIRECTED MESSAGE ***********
Hello all, in the past I toldl you that Dave Kuntz had taken nearly 300 shots of tombstones and sent them to me. well today I worked about 10 hours on creating links to each on of the photos and uploaded the "new improved" pages for you. The photos he took were mainly in the infant section it appears, but there were some adult's tombstones mixed in. A lot of nuns it seems. Do any of you know the "real" names to these women that I might post it on the webpage? I sure have to wonder where some of those names they have on the tombstones came from! The nuns that taught me at St. Mary's Tiffin had "real" names... like Sister Mary Patrick, Sister Mary Johanna <grin> Take a look at St. Boniface burial listings and the names of the nuns listed. What country did they come from? How did they pick their names? Well anyways... you can find St. Boniface and all other Seneca cemteries at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ohio/seneca/list.htm Have you signed the guestbook found on that page yet? I am off to work on entering a pile of Obits and work on my OWN families for the rest of the evening! <smile> Kristina (Kuhn) Krumm Webmaster of Wyandot County, OH at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohwyand2/ _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail

I have found I may have caused a mess with folks who did not want to post their full email addresses to the Ohio FGS site, when I suggested they enter the word "at" instead of the "@" sign. I ran a "test" and submitted one to myself using kkkrumm at hotmail.com instead of kkkrumm@hotmail.com and it never arrived at my inbox. Thus it appears when you submitt using the "electronic groupsheet form" at the site you must enter a valid email containing the "a" sign or I will not get your submission. HOWEVER if you use the "alternate email submission form" at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usfgs/ohio/groupsht.html and send them to me directly you can put whatever you like in there and I get them for sure this way. Directions are on the webpage. I am very sorry if I have messed anyone up, I did not know they would not go through if an improper format was entered.
