Researching family of Christian & Barbara BERGSTRESSER who arrived in Seneca County in 1839. 1840 Census has them in Clinton Township. Specifically I am looking for absolute proof that the William BERGSTRESSER who married Margaret Louer in Seneca County in 1842 is a son of Christian. I have a lot of clues that indicate he is indeed Christian's son but I've not found that one piece of evidence that proves it. Christian is buried in St. Jacob's Cemetery, Adams Township, died June 1845. Wife Barbara is also buried there, died January 1870. William and his wife are buried in Pleasant Union*Dukes Cemetery, Pleasant Township, William died April 1859, Margaret Septerber 1875.
These surnames are connected for me as follows: Isaac Andrew Bordner married Mary Jane Smith (dau of Armour Smith) from Ireland about 1859 Their daughter Amanda Jane Bordner married David Black McAlister from Penn about 1881. Their son Isaac Martin Mcallister married Leah Leddick about 1907. They moved to California and the rest of the family is out west.. Leah's parents were William Eugene Leddick and Christann Fisher and they married about 1883. Leah's father's parents were Samuel Leddick and Rachel Decker married about 1856. They had come from New York Leah's mother's parents were Jacob Fisher and Leah Gambee married about 1852. He had come from Germany and while she had come from Penn. I would be happy to exchange information on these families. In particular, I would like to learn more about Armour Smith and Leah Gambee's parents. Wendy Bergerud, Victoria, BC

1830's - 18?? Thought I'd try this again with an improved subject line. -----Original Message----- From: DC & Alice Allen [mailto:dcaallen@pacifier.com] Sent: Tuesday, January 13, 2004 2:01 AM To: OHSENECA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [OHSENECA] Roll Call Suggestions Hello Listmembers, I see a roll call was started earlier today. Just what we need to jump-start a quiet list--we're normally not this quiet. I did want to give you a couple of suggestions to make this work for you, especially if you're new to mailing lists and Internet genealgoy. In the Subject line, instead of "Roll Call" or something similar, change it to reflect your Seneca County families. I know for me, if I have a lot of emails to read and very little time, I'll often skim the Subject lines for emails that I need to handle fairly soon (queries, lookup requests, etc) and leave the rest till later when I have more time. And I do know that some of us just delete emails without reading them based on the Subject line. What a shame to miss a new connection because the Subject line doesn't reflect what's in the email. I have noticed some of you are already doing this--well done! Also, take a moment to include a time frame as well. If you're looking for your family in the 1830's, chances are you won't be interested in the same surname if they didn't arrive in the area until 1875. And of course, feel free to include a little more data and what you are hoping to find as well. I'll be posting my own Seneca County families shortly. Remember to make that Subject line work for you. Good luck! Hello, My gg grandparents were George Shultz and Elizabeth Rinebolt, who were married in 1850 in Seneca County. In1860 they appear on the census for Shawnee Co., KS, so obviously they left at some point before that time. Elizabeth was born 10 Feb 1827 in Seneca County, the oldest child of Daniel Rinebolt and Julia Good. George Shultz was born 10 Feb 1830 in Knox County Ohio, according to his Civil War pension application. I do not know who his parents were. There were several Shultz's living nearby in Seneca County in the 1850 census, but I can only "guess" if they were related. Four of George & Elizabeth's children were born in Seneca County: Daniel, Lydia, Julia, & Sarah. Anyone else researching this family?
