I notice that you are researching the name Harrison. My husband's great-grandfather was a John S. Harrison, sometimes going by J.S. Harrison. I have hit a brick wall regarding his origin. He married Margaret Watchier in 1863 and they moved to Tiffin; however, military records state that he came from Swan Creek in what he called Lucas County. I think it's now Henry County. I hope we can connect on the Harrison lineage. My great grandmother was divorced from her husband in 1902. Is it possible to get copies of these records. What office in Seneca County would hold these?

Unfortunately > I don't have dates for Peter and Maria - that's what I'm hoping to find. > > Thanks for your help, > Judy Hi Judy, I've built a very flimsy house of cards regarding your Peter Weichel, starting with the report by Dave Kuntz that there is a "Peter Reichel" buried in Fireside Cemetery. In our Seneca County, Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions book I find in Fireside Cemetery, Thompson Township, on page 604, Section 2, Row 11, the following: Brickel, Maria Elizabetha, w/o Peter, d. Apr. 12, 1858, 62y. Reichel, Peter, Oct. 12, 1853, 62y 3m 17d. I'm assuming the possibility that the surname listed in both cases is a corruption of "Weichel." The birth years for Maria and Peter would be abt. 1796 and 1791 respectively. FamilySearch.org gives me an IGI record for a Peter Jacob Weichel which shows he married a Maria Elisabetha Mueller on 11 Mar 1827 in Evangelisch, Lauterecken, Pfalz, Bayern. His parents are listed as Heinrich Weichel and Barabara Doerr. No ages were listed for this Peter and Maria, but if they are the same as the ones in the Fireside cemetery, they would have been about age 36 and 31 respectively--- a bit long in the tooth perhaps for a first marriage, but not improbable. Further, A posting on an Ancestry.com message board by Mark Weichel on 29 Jan 2000 regarding Peter Weichel reads as follows: "Looking for info on a Peter Weichel born abt 1791 in Germany and died in 1853 in northern Ohio. One son, Johan Adam Weichel, who died in Sandusky, Ohio, is my g-g-grandfather. I am also looking for info on Peter's wife, Maria------." (No surname was given for Maria.). The year of birth and the year of death would seem to track with the same information for the "Peter Reichel" who is buried in the Fireside cemetery above. There are a number of other references to "Peter Weichel" in postings on Ancestry.Com's message board, many from a Mark Weichel (websterconn@yahoo.com), and Edward Kaczor (Kazorsi@accnorwalk.com.). One posting by Mark Weichel referred to a Maria Christina Weichel who is buried next to a Peter Weichel. This house of cards may collapse from the least draft, so don't breathe too heavily on this information. Regards, Ken Shute (kwsroots@aol.com)
Rob My name is Robert Clark and I have ancestors in Eden Twp. I am descended from John Clark who with his brothers and family migrated to Eden Twp.from Cayuga Co,NY and were landowners in Eden Twp. John Clark had two sons who married the Jeffrey sisters from NY.,both brothers resided in Eden Twp. One brother Samuel S Clark is buried in Weston,Wood County,Ohio. In the Clark plot is a Sarah Holmes Jeffrey d 10-04-1855 aged 68 yrs who I believe is the mother of Samuel's wife Hannah. I have no evidence to prove a relationship to your Holmes family but there could be a link if your family came from NY around 1820-1830. I have a listing for Rock Creek Cemetery where my ancestors are buried and there are some Holmes there also. I find three Holmes families in the 1880 census in Eden Twp. Hi, Could someone please do a lookup for me in the Seneca County Cemetery book? I've been told that Peter and Maria Christina Weichel are buried in Fireside cemetery. I was also told that the surname might not be spelled Weichel. It might be under Wikel or another name that sounds like Wikel. Unfortunately I don't have dates for Peter and Maria - that's what I'm hoping to find. Thanks for your help, Judy
