    2. I've never been able to determine where in France my ancestor lived but I suspect Alsace. His declaration of intent just says he came from France. I was only able to trace him back to Columbiana Co.OH in 1830 buying land; married there in 1831. Went to Crawford Co., d. 1850 but his children went to Seneca Co. He was German. Have found no ship passenger records for him. Does anyone have any suggestions where to look? Name is: Christian Fishbach (Fishbaugh) b. abt 1806. Thanks. Susan

    2. Barbara Davidson Norkus and list Yes there were a lot of of people from Alsace who settled in Seneca County in the 1840s. And from Luxemboutg and Germany and virtually everywhere else. Land was still cheap although the government land in Seneca County was all sold before 1840. Vince Falter

    3. Hi Barbara, My 3rd great-grandparents, George and Christina (BREINE) DALLMAN were also from Alsace. According to "History of Seneca County, Ohio", by Warner, Beers & Co., Chicago (1886), they came to America in 1826 and to Seneca County in 1833. It doesn't say where they were between 1826 and 1833. They may have been in PA as their daughter, Margaretta, married my 2nd great-grandfather, Jacob GRUVER, who was from PA, sometime before 1836. However, I don't know if they married before or after coming to Ohio. 2. Hi Bev and list, I am decended from Andrew LEY b.1807 who was married in St.Stephens OH near Tiffin OH to Marie Anne Steinmetz in 1841. I do not have a Francis Joseph LEY on any of my lists of offspring. He may be related but it is not clear yet how. Much of my inital information I got from Vince Falter; I have since made contact with decendants of 4 of Andrew's children through e-mail. Andrew moved to Noble Co. IN from Seneca Co. 3. I think both of these churches are the same church. We were in that area 2 weeks ago and noticed that small church. The sign on the front read "Honey Creek Primative Baptist Church" and, yes, there is a cemetery behind it. -----Original Message----- From: james davis [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, July 25, 2000 11:11 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: #2-Honey Creek Bapt ch cem Dear Caral, I tried to find your SEITZs, but could not find any Honey Creek Baptist Church and Cemetery listed in the Seneca County, Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions book. There are two John SEITZs in the book, but both are buried in Pleasant View Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Bloom Township. They are John, who served in the Civil War and who lived from Oct. 28, 1790 to Sept. 21, 1874 and another John who lived 1829-1915. If either of these are the John you are interested in, let me know and I'll try to send data on all the SEITZs in this cemetery. There are quite a few of them. I can't send you data on all the SEITZs in the Seneca County, Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions book because there are 102 of them listed in the index! 2. Bev Rogers; I have quite a bit of information on the LEY family of Schirrhein, Alsace, and Stark and Seneca Counties, Ohio. I have a thousand or more of the descendants of Andreas Ley and Magdalena Steinmetz, to include those that settled in Tiffin and elsewhere in Seneca County, as well as in and around Avilla in Noble County, Indiana. I have Frank Joseph Ley who married Agnes F. Pecker on 17 November 1863, but I do not have the slightest idea who his parents are! Lots of possibilities, but darn few certainties. I will gladly send you a copy of my Ley database if you will do the same for me. Vince Falter
