Jim, Upon closer examination of my census copy, it seems possible that the name is written as Marg Fisher instead of May Fisher. The Jacob Fisher I am researching is said to have died in 1883 but I thought his wife died earlier and he remarried in 1854. All the information is helpful. Thank you very much for looking it up. Hi, John, this looks like fun. During a cursory glance at your info, I see you have John Miller Sanford married to Elizabeth Byron in 1854 and having 3 children; then in 1853 he marries Hannah Anderson? In all the Seneca Co., histories, in the land records, and in the biographies, the name is Cassety. In the MARRIAGES OF SENECA CO., OHIO 1841 - 1899, Elizabeth, Jane, and Nancy (my ancestor) were all Cassidys. I have found both spellings, plus Cassity and Cassedy in various places. I use Cassidy as that is how I first found my Nancy (she m. Joshua Calvin and moved to Williams Co., OH). I shall look over your family, and add your info to mine. I gave you all the infor I have on Electa and her children, so I can't help any there. So, later, Cuz. Carol Barton
Dear Barbara, I don't recall having seen any replies to your query, so will tell you what I have (not) found. There are no May FISHERs listed in the "Seneca County, Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions", by the Seneca County Chapter OGS (1987). The only Jacob FISHER that comes close to matching the dates you have specified is: p.656, St. Peters and Paul Cemetery, Venice Township Row 4 - Section A 15. FISHER, Jacob, b. in Bavaria, Mar. 20, 1807 - Feb. 17, 1883 75y 10m 27d Margaretha, b. in Bavaria, June 15, 1809 - May 2, 1883 73y 10m 17d Jim [email protected] wrote: > > I am looking for a death record for May Fisher (Mrs. Jacob Fisher) in > Seneca County, Ohio, during the years of 1850 -1854. > > May Fisher was listed with her husband Jacob Fisher on the 1850 census for > Seneca County, Loudon Twp. > > Thanks for any help > Barbara
Dear Carol Barton, This is what I have in my records, on the family of John Miller SANFORD, of Defiance, Ohio. He was an older brother of my great grandfather, Andrew SANFORD, of Reed Twp. Seneca Co. OH. [For their SANFORD ancestry] See my page at: www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch/4453/johns.html If you have any different information, additions, or corrections to any of this, please share it with me. You will note in the 2nd. generation that some of them have a '+' before the name, and that indicates that I have more descendant information on them. This way, you can compare what we have, and I can then add to this, IF you have more details on any of them. We are also very interested in knowing for sure, the spelling of Electa CASSITY's (or CASSIDY) surname. Any information on this is welcome. I hope this is helpful to you, and that I will hear from you again. Sincerely, John D. Sanford, of San Jose, CA. ------------------------ Descendants of John Miller SANFORD, from John D. Posted on: Seneca Co. Oh Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Oh/Seneca/79 Surname: KIRIAN ------------------------- I saw the message mentioning the KIRIAN and WINDAU surnames. My wife is a descendant of Ernest KIRIAN. We are trying to locate the ancestral village of Ernest KIRIAN in Westphalia, Germany. Our information is that Ernest wife's surname was SCHOCKMANN. Using current Germany white pages and responses from Germany genealogy mailing lists...........some clues putting KIRIAN and SCHOCKMANN surnames in common area bordered by Telgte, Warendorf, Sendenhorst and Beckum. This area is southeast of Munster. This may be useful to KIRIAN researchers. Again, this is just a clue. Nothing conclusive.
I am looking for someone in the Tiffin area who can read & translate an old German document. This 4 page document, purchased at a flee market, is hand written in old German, and I have no idea what it says. If it's content is appropriate, I intend to post a transcript on my website. No need to type it out. I have a voice recorder that you can use in translating the document. Thanks, and Happy Thanksgiving to all! Stephen J.
