I just typed in Gendis in the browser area and hit GO. It gave me many matches for the term. I just scrolled down and picked the states or other areas I wanted to view. Patricia
Does Ohio have a GENDIS site of death records and what is the http? Thanks. Pat
Oops! Maybe I should clarify this to the whole list. I'm trying a back door approach to my mysterious Courtright family. Posted on: Seneca Co. Oh Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Oh/Seneca/10104 Surname: ------------------------- Norma, There are no BOGGs in the 1987 Seneca County Cemetery Inscriptions book. You may need to check Handcock and Wood Counties, which are adjacent to Seneca County at Fostoria, Ohio, a renound glassware center.
It's a little complicated but here goes: John Courtright first shows up for sure when he married 1797 to Mary Clark (don't laugh!) in the Stillwater Church in sussex co., NJ. Then their daughter Sarah was born 1798, however her baptism wasn't recorded untill 8 years later in the Minisink dutch Reformed Church, along w/ a lot of other late entries. Most were connected to the John Kortright/Susanna Kittle clan, including Westfalls & Deckers. (John & Susanna baptised a son in Minnisink in 1780.) Then in 1800 John shows up in the census for Beaver Co., PA, that's near Pittsburgh & was just formed from Washington Co.,PA that year. A Thomas Cortwright was in Greene Co., PA a few years later, that county also formed from Washington Co.,PA. More on him in another note. In 1800 John had a wife & 2 kids listed, which would be Sarah born 1798 & Jacob V. born 1799, although he gets younger in the later census records. :>) they stayed in Beaver co until 1818 when they moved just across the state line into Columbiana co., OH. Interestingly that's the same year the Coshocton Cortrights made their move. John was last in the 1830 Jefferson Co., OH census, his son Jacob V. was still in Columbiana but in 1850 he moved to Huron Co. The Westfalls & Figleys were all in on these moves. In fact in 1850 Jacob V. was living next door to the Westfalls & Deckers. Jacob's sister Rebecca, the youngest, moved to the Fort Wayne IN area in 1855 & another brother moved to CA, but the rest stayed in OH. John's son William married Mary Sergent, who is possibly the d/o Thomas Sergent & Naomi Westfall. The counties I've found them in so far include: Athens, Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Harrison, Huron, Jefferson, Putnam, Seneca & Tuscarawas. I sent this out to some of you earlier and sent the wrong url. The correct url is: www.ellisislandrecords.org The site opens tomorrow and covers almost all people immagrating to the USA between 1892-1943 and landing in the Port of New York. This ought to help us jump over a few of those brick walls we are all running into now and then. Aloha Joe

Looking for information on Stephen J and Martin E. Linley listed in the 1840 census in Bloom Twp. Elisabeth Smith purchased land in Bloom Twp. in 1833 and had with her 5 daughters and a granddaughter. Granddaughter Rachel Amanda E. Babylon married Jared L. Lindley in Seneca Co. on 15 April 1845. They then moved to Hancock Co and on to Wood Co. where they both died. I am trying to find siblings and parents for Jared L. Lindley. Names spelled differently, but a common mistake. Anyone out there researching these Linleys? Thank you. Pat in Indiana
I must have deleted some earlier emails explaining about this obit book for Ottawa, Sandusky and Seneca Counties for 1836-1870. Is this book for sale? Or does someone on the list have it and is doing lookups? Pat looking for Lindley/Linley in Seneca Co. Henry in Sandusky Co, and Lindley, Odell, Henry, Mathews in Wood Co.
