Variously spelled as Gephart, Gebhart, and Gebhardt. Lewis was born in Wurttemburg Germany abt 1808. Married Temperance (no surname available). Temperance was born in Ohio. They started having children in about 1835. This couple shows up on the 1840, 1850, and 1870 census in Bloom Twp, Scioto Co. The specific location may be indicated by a Gephart road which runs from Scioto Furnace west connecting agin with South Webster Pike. We know of 10 children: Jane A., Christina, Carolina, Julia, Mary N., Fredrick, Louisa, Rebecca Ida, Fannie, and Adell. The number of girls makes it difficult to track the family members through census records. We can track Fredrick and we are descended through Christina. Several members of the family moved to southeastern Kansas. Christina and her husband David Ramsey purchased land with Fredrick in Labette Co.
