For anyone who uses a social networking site or are thinking of joining a social networking site it very important to be aware of a situation that is occurring with the mailing lists. Social Networking sites will access your entire contact lists if you let it. It will then send an email to every address in your contact list. This includes the Rootsweb mailing lists. Since the mailing list servers recognizes the email address as a subscriber it allows the post to be sent on to the list which is why many mailing lists are receiving unwanted mail from these sites.
