My great-great grandfather was "Judge" Martin Heckard (1809-1877), a lawyer in Pomeroy and many of his clients were on both sides of the river from Cincinnati to Wheeling. He also was one of the early teachers at Meigs Academy in Chester. He grew up in Columbiana and Jefferson Counties and came down to Meigs County about 1832. I stumbled on these because they were prepared by Mr. Heckard when he was a lawyer. Too bad the applicant were not our family . . . . the last name was Frasher.
