They came from Scherzhiem, Baden. I dont recall the exact Ward but there is Heid listing in the 1880 Census for Portsmouth. In the mid 1800's a number of immigrants from Scherzhiem came to or passed through Portstmouth including Barbara Faessler who maried Friedrich Walter and settled in Portsmouth. I suggest you check the LDS records for Scherzheim which is just off the Rhine River about 15-20 Km. north of Strasbourg, France.Failing in that, try Lichtenau located about 2 KM. to the north.
