Hello. My name is Kim Smith, and several of my ancestors are from Portmouth, Ohio. William Barnaky - Biernacki (German immigrant arrived 1902) and his wife, Jennie Mitchell were my maternal great-grandparents. Jennie Mitchell's parents were James Mitchell and Alice Barbee, who also lived in Portsmouth. Alice Barbee ran a boarding house there. Sorry, my mom has my scrapbook so, I don't have relevent dates handy, but I'm getting it back from her this weekend. But, earliest of those mentioned are from about 1880's. William Barnaky (Biernacki) has been my brickwall for a number of years now. I know he was from Germany, possibly Dortmund, and that his parents names were Joseph and Magdelena. I've been told the last name means "beer maker," and I think it's Polish. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'll share some more info when I get my scrapbook back.
