Brian, I checked a book titled Scioto County, Ohio Newspaper Index: Deaths and marriages 1818 to 1865 by Barbara Keyser Garguilo and found no Shopes or Dollarhides listed. I did find one Chick and that information is as follows: Franklin Chick married Flora A. Stewart on May 23rd, 1852. Notice published in the Portsmouth Tribune & Clipper on June 2, 1852. There is also listed 4 Barbers; Catherine, Jane, Louisa, and William E. Let me know if you need the details. Note: I did find one SHOUP listed. Female (no name given) died July 17th 1860. Brian & Phyllis I have a Marinda Barber that married a Samual C. Briggs Dec. 20 1843 I would also be interested in the information that you have on Catherine, Jane , Louisa an d William E. Barber I have a William E. Barber that married a Caroline Cole , but no date. I think that there actually was a William that married a Caroline Cole. Don't know when. I am going by memory on this next statement. I believe there are people down that William Barber line named Waters or Watters.
