Y. MAT LINNEN and CHARLES CUNNING took in Ironton, Sunday. A child of JOHN WILHELM, the Second street tinner (sic), is dangerously ill with typhoid fever. Miss HATTIE TRACY has returned from her visit to the Queen City. MILTON CHAFFIN and family, of Clay City, Ill.; are visiting relatives in Jefferson township. Miss ANN HANCOCK will depart in a few days for California, where she will make her future home. SIDNEY WILLIAMS opened school at Sugar Grove last week, with an average attendance of thirty. M. AL HUBBARD, living on Third street, rejoices in a bouncing HANCOCK boy, weighing nine pounds. DAVID DAVIS, father-in-law of Capt. WM. BURT and Mr. J. H. JOHNSON, died at Athens Tuesday. CHAS. WOLLMER, of Miller & Ci??na's clothing house, returned this week from a successful business tour. Ex-Councilman THOS. H. COLLINS, who has been on a two month's visit in New York State, is home again. Mr. W. A. GRIM, of Nelsonville, who has been visiting J. L. MOORE, at Sciotoville, the past week, has returned home. Mrs. C. P. TRACY and daughter, Miss "Puss," have returned from their trip to the pleasure resorts of the Northwest. Rev. F. K. BROOKE, late pastor of Christ Church, has gone to Piqua, whither he has been assigned as the regular minister. Miss LORA BRADFORD, of Piketon, was in the city last Tuesday, on business in connection with her millinery establishment. Miss ROSA BROUSE, of Suger Grove, has been attending the Exposition and other attractions, in Cincinnati, this week. PAT McGARVEY, who was dangerously injured by a saw-log falling off a wagon on to him, is considerably better, and will probably recover. JOHN BIEGEL and wife have returned from a visit to Cincinnati. While there John purchased a fine phaston (sic), and expects to come out in a few days with a handsome rig. FRANK McCALL, who has spent several months visiting his mother, near Friendship, left last Wednesday morning, on the Bonanza, to resume work in his flour mill in Missouri. Mrs. JACOB HUBERT, of Mason City, Ill., and Miss NICOLAS GEIS, of Creston, Iowas, are on a visit to the city, the guests of their sister, Mrs. FRED LEGLER, proprietress of the Legler House. Miss CADDIE, daughter of Captain JOHN W. VARNER, of Des Moines, Iowa, who was formerly a resident of this city, and at one time proprietor of the St. Nicholas Hotel, is visiting relatives and friends in the city. Messrs. WILL C. McMAHON, of J. H. JOHNSON's, JOHN KELLEY and W. M. O'CONNER, will leave this evening for the great show in the Queen City. The boys will take in "Over the Rhine," &c., before returning.
