Mr. and Mrs. CHARLES EVANS, of East Portsmouth, are the recipients of a fine bouncing boy. Miss MATTIE LYNN, of Market street, was visiting Miss AGGIE BROUSE, on the West Side, this week. C. H. SCOTT, traveling correspondent of the Cincinnati Gazette, was in the city a few days the past week. Mr. L. TOWNSEND, of Galena, was in the city yesterday. He has been on the sick list for the past month. Mr. F. E. DUDUIT returned from Long Island yesterday, accompanied by his wife and daughter, Miss Allie. Dr. W. S. EAKMAN, of Green township, left Monday last to attend lectures at the Miami Medical College, Cincinnati. Mrs. GEO. D. SCUDDER left for her home at Trenton, N. J.. this week, accompanied by her brother, Mr. A. M. DAMARIN. Mrs. ANGIE KEYES, of Cincinnati, is visiting her mother, Mrs. McCORD, Second street. Mrs. Keyes returns home next week. JOHN CLARK, of Leatherwood, has returned from Auglaize county, looking hale and hearty. Northern climate agrees with John. Miss JENNIE WARD, adopted daughter of JOHN COOPER, has taken charge of the colored school of Maysville, Ky., as teacher. Miss MOLLIE REED, of Chillicothe, returned home Wednesday after a pleasant visit in the city the guest of Miss MAME TIMMONDS. Messrs. ISAAC O'NEILL and CHAS. SILCOX, both of Towell & McFarland's wholesale house, spent a few days in the Queen City this week. Mrs. FRED. LEGLER, of Portsmouth, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. F. NEEKAMP, returned home last evening. -- Ironton Busy Bee. Rev. H. E. KETCHUM, of the Second Presbyterian Church, addressed the Jackson County Sunday School Convention, at Jackson, Thursday. BYRON THOMAS, of the Ohio Trade Journal, of Cincinnati, is in town, and will remain here for a week or more writing up the business interests of the city. FRANK MONTGOMERY, traveling salesman for Drew, Selby & Co., has been spending a few days at Hilldale, the guest of Mr. VAN RATHBONE and lady. Our good natured young friend, JOE VALLEY, formerly of the Tribune, after a short visit to Columbus and other Ohio cities north of us, has returned home. Joe says he is "open to engagements."
