JOHN ROSE, an old German citizen, aged 57 years, residing near Powellsville, was struck on the back of the head by a piece of timber, while taking down an old barn, Wednesday, and died from the effects of his injuries, Thursday morning. DEATHS ELLIOTT - At her residence, in Nile Township, in this county, Tuesday, September 21st, MIRIAM L. ELLIOTT, wife of L. W. ELLIOTT, Esq., aged thirty-seven years. Deceased was born in Meigs county, Ohio, and was married there March ?1th, 1867. She leaves a husband and four children to mourn her untimely loss. The deceased was a fond wife and devoted mother, and her death will be regretted by a large circle of friends, who sympathize with the bereaved family in their deep affliction. The funeral services took place Wednesday last, at ten o'clock a.m., from Wesley Chapel, on Turkey Creek, Rev. E. H. Wallace officiating. DEATH of MRS. SCHACKERT Mrs. BARBARA SCHACKERT, wife of ex-County Commissioner Schackert, died at Hopewell Station, Ky., where they were temporarily living, on Wednesday morning last, at six o'clock, aged 57 years and three months. She was born in Oppa Rhine, Bavaria, and came to this country in 1849, and was married in 1851. She was the mother of seven children, three boys and four girls, all grown, and enjoyed perfect health until about six weeks ago, when she took the flux, from the effects of which she died. The remains were brought to this city and interred at Greenlawn Cemetery yesterday forenoon.
