    1. SPRINGVILLE, KY.
    2. Thank you for the replies to me inquiry concerning the whereabouts of Springville, KY. I understand that it is now known as South Portsmouth, KY. My G-Grandpa, Robert K. GRAY (b. 1837) married Isabella (DAWNEY) MILLER (b. abt. 1842). The 1860 census shows that she was apparently separated from Mr. MILLER, and living in Springville with her mother, Isabella DAWNEY and two brothers, Joseph and John DAWNEY. G-Grandpa GRAY was a Steamboat Mate and he married Isabella in 1863, and soon the rest of her family moved from Springville to Portsmouth. I have a pretty good handle on the family from then on through the 1880 Portsmouth census. The City Directories in your wonderful Portsmouth library show that Robert K. GRAY was a Mate on the Fannie Dugan in tyhe 1870s. My problem is that I have no idea when (or where) these Great-grandparents died, or where they were buried. I have a strong hunch that the dates of death were somewhere around 1890. If somebody could steer me in the right direction I would be most grateful.
