    1. [OHSCIOTO] Hello. Ancestors from Portsmouth
    2. Robert Smith
    3. Hello. My name is Kim Smith, and several of my ancestors are from Portmouth, Ohio. William Barnaky - Biernacki (German immigrant arrived 1902) and his wife, Jennie Mitchell were my maternal great-grandparents. Jennie Mitchell's parents were James Mitchell and Alice Barbee, who also lived in Portsmouth. Alice Barbee ran a boarding house there. Sorry, my mom has my scrapbook so, I don't have relevent dates handy, but I'm getting it back from her this weekend. But, earliest of those mentioned are from about 1880's. William Barnaky (Biernacki) has been my brickwall for a number of years now. I know he was from Germany, possibly Dortmund, and that his parents names were Joseph and Magdelena. I've been told the last name means "beer maker," and I think it's Polish. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'll share some more info when I get my scrapbook back. By the way, I just started a new blog about various historical events, and just did an article about the 1937 Ohio Flood, (which certainly effected Scioto county) if anyone is interested in checking it out, I'ld sure love some feedback. http://deadandgoneancestors.blogspot.com/ -Kim
