    1. [OHSCIOTO] Old Bloom Church Cemetery
    2. Kate Maynard
    3. I will be making a trip home to Portsmouth in a month or so and I really could use some help finding the Old Bloom Church Cemetery. I spent the good part of a day trying to locate it during my last trip and for the life of me I can't find it! I even stopped to ask directions from a local resident and they said they'd never heard of it. These are the directions I had: Old Bloom Church Cemetery is located 3/10 mile off the east side of Burton Road and appx 9/10 mile north of the intersection of Burton Road and Laurel Lick Road. With these directions I pulled down a map from Mapquest and though I was certain I was in the exact spot the cemetery is supposed to be, I just couldn't locate it. Can anyone help me out here? Are there any landmarks I should look for? Is the cemetery visible from the road? This is very frustrating. Caryn Shoemaker compiled an index of the burials there and I wanted to take some photos for some Canter & Burton descendants who live across country. Thanks for any help! -- Kate Maynard

Author: triciashumate Surnames: Zink, Ingles Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.scioto/11409/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have the 1840 census of Gallia Co with a John Zink listed. In 1850, Gallia Co., Perry Twp is a widowed, Sr. John Zink, born in VA, with 3 children, James Madison, Sarah and William Zink. Right next door is John Zink Jr., born in VA, married to Elizabeth Ingles, also born in VA, with two children, James and William M. (listed here as what appears to be Thomas??). The Senior John was born about 1792 and John Jr. was born about 1822. I have information on Wm. M. Zink, including his death certificate, which lists his parents and verifies they were born in VA. I also know that James Madison Zink, son of John Zink Sr., married and moved to Indiana. I was hoping that someone would have additional information about these families. If you can assist, I would love to hear from you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: cresiezoe Surnames: WEAVER Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.scioto/11337.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thanks for the response! Would you know if Dewey had Weaver relatives that lived in the Rarden, Ohio area at one time? Let me give you some details and run them by him. My great-great grandparent's were Henry and Elizabeth ( nee Wright ) Weaver. Henry was born about 1818 and died in 1896. He is buried in Locust Grove Cemetery in Adams County. His children were: 1.)Francis Marion Weaver married to Mary Cox. They were my great grandparent's. Francis Marion was killed in a train wreck involving two trains, in Rarden. He was pinned between both trains. This was in 1893. He and Mary are buried in Newman Cemetery in Rarden. He was born in 1841. His children were Alonzo Weaver, married to Minnie Bell Lewis. They had a boy named Dorris, who was hit by a train and killed in the early 1900's. Ada Weaver, married to Ott Kisling, both buried in Locust Grove Cemetery in Adams County. Roy Weaver, my grandfather, married to Ethel McCann. Roy was a minister and started the Rarden Nazarene Church that is still in operation today. It's on the main strip in Rarden. He also started a Nazarene church that is located in Portsmouth, not far from the Ohio River. Continuing on with Francis Marions siblings: 2.) George Washington Weaver, married to Zalona Penn. They are buried in Newman Cemetery. 3.) Mary Weaver, married to J. W. (John) McCormick. Moved to Desoto County, Florida and are buried there. 4.) Sarah Jane Weaver, married Dr. H. S. (Harvey)Wamsley. Both buried in Locust Grove Cemetery. 5.) Henry Woodrow "Woody" Weaver, married Martha Garrison. They are buried in Newman Cemetery. My dad was Paul Weaver, born in Rarden, then lived in Portsmouth and West Portsmouth. I was born and raised in Portsmouth, Scioto County. Who were Dewey's parent's and where did they live when he was born? What year was he born? I've got other names that I can throw out to you, but they would have been my great-great Uncle's and Aunt's children. ( The ones I mentioned above.) ANYTHING you can find out for me would be a great help! Another cousin, whom I found online several years ago, have the only Weaver's left in our family, that we know of. We each thought our own imediate families were the only Weaver's left. So, we're desperate to find relatives. You can email me directly at: cresiezoe@aol.com I'm anxious to hear back from you! 3. I've researched a number of Louderbacks/Lauderbacks/etc. Aside from the surname of a wife, do you have any more information? And I assume you mean the 1820s? I might not have anything on your line, but I have quite a bit of information on other Louderbacks who were in Ohio, and that might help sort out the confusion. gc-gateway@rootsweb.com wrote: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: laudeinwa > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.scioto/11406/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > Hello, OH, VA, are the areas of this family.
