Would anyone know the Rd. and name of the Childrens Home was in the Wheelersburg area, and if it still is operating...thanks Bev
Bev..Wheelersburg is in Porter Township. Mary
Hi, Could someone let me know what township "Wheelersburg" is in, as I am looking for someone there in the 1910 ,1920 census....thanks Bev
You could try the Portsmouth Public Library. They have alot of info and alot of wonderful geneological resources. But you could inquire about a picture. The web address is www.portsmouth.lib.oh.us Good Luck!! Amanda Crabtree Nichols Scioto County,Ohio
I'm trying to locate a picture of my great uncle, Jobe Phillips who was the supervisor of the waterworks in Portsmouth in the 1920's-30's. He died in 1934 right after retirement. Thanks Pam
Betsy, thank you so much for the information. Right now it doesn't look as if this William is the father of my Samuel JACKSON. The Samuel I'm researching was married in 1843 to Sarah STULTZ and was living in Benton Township, Pike Co., OH in 1850. I do appreciate your sending the information, however, since it helps me clarify these relationships a little. <PRE>Bev...I don't know what I was thinking. Whenever I have looked up censuses in Scioto County, Portsmouth is listed as being in Wayne Township. We never think of Portsmouth as being in a township. Good luck in your research. Mary
<PRE>Bev...there are railroad tracks which run along Rhodes Avenue which runs between Portsmouth and New Boston in Scioto County. I think that is also known as Walnut Street because there is a shop called Creative Possibilities and its address is on Walnut Street which most people think is Rhodes Avenue. Hope this helps. Mary
That would be the Walnut street that runs into New Boston.....don't know what ward that is. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, September 02, 2002 9:49 PM Subject: Re: [OHSCIOTO] Name of Twp.? > HI, > Thanks for answering so promptly. HI, Thanks for answering so promptly. What I remember is that there was a railroad yard behind the home, if this would be of any help. I am looking to look up in the 1900 census. Bev
Bev.. there are several Walnut Streets in Scioto County. If you are looking for the one in Portsmouth, it is not in a township but it is in the Fourth Ward of Portsmouth. There are Walnut Streets in Valley Township, Nile Township and one in Otway which would be Union Township, I think.
